Opinions on these boots?

Hudson Boots

I like them in brown and black (which is better?). Every year I have a boots crisis at sale time and all the ones I want are sold out in my size. This year I'm going to pay through nose and get them at the start of the season instead! But should I be buying calf boots? Everyone else seems to be getting lovely ankle boots.

also leather soles - will they be slippy?

I like them! I'm sure you can find a way to make calf boots look up-to-date. I think the brown are nicer but obviously outfits based around them would require a bit more planning.

I paid about that for a special pair of boots in Italy about 8 years ago - still going strong, I haven't regretted it.

The real q here is: do you love them? If yes, for gods sake buy them - and you'll wear them forever. But if you're not sure, walk on by...

SilverSixpence · 21/08/2012 22:51

Oh yes I definitely do its just the money so need to justify it!

If I were you, I would BUY the boots I've fallen for with the following justification, if you really need one:

they're sensible - low heel and comfortable to walk in, which means you can wear them all day long (work or weekend)

they're neutral - colour goes with everything, and because you love them so, you will try them with everything in your wardrobe

they're the right length - meaning you can wear them with skirts/dresses or trousers or leggings

Personally, I prefer the brown (softer, less biker-y) but it depends on your colouring, the rest of your wardrobe and your general style.

These are great boots - I've paid more than that for a similar pair of Timberlands and never regretted it. Choice is yours - good luck!

thanks I can definitely convince myself with that list Grin

buy them do a cost per wear calculation after a while to work out how clever you were to snap them up! ooh and brown is best imho

btw i had a pair of hideously epensive boots bought autumn 2005 and I wear them still, endlessly, and receive compliments each time :)
