Thoughts on this A/W jackety-coat thing

So I've been getting carried away, doing a bit of research in the hope of finding a fabulous well-cut top end (but good value) warm coat for the coming season. I thought I could MAYBE justify up to about 200 euro (170 pounds roughly) if I got a bargain that would last me for years.

But the thing is, I'm working from home these days and nobody sees me, and I don't treat my clothes carefully enough to justify something really good, and I have a small baby with sticky fingers. And 200 euro is a lot of money.

I'll stop rambling. Is this hideous? Or potentially okay? I'm about 5'2 and slim build, usually size 6-8 in coats. 29.

Looks ok but a bit cheap, which one was your high end coat?

daisygatsby · 21/08/2012 11:23

not hideous. i do like padded jackets and youre definitely slim enough to get away with it (unlike me). but i think there are probably nicer ones than that. the big collar thing looks a bit offputting

IShallPracticeMyCurtsey · 21/08/2012 11:27

Yes.

I think you are both right. It's true that I could probably get away with the padding but there are probably nicer versions to be found.

Hadn't landed on one particular high-end, Silver - Dressipi is tempting me with something nice from Toast but it's way over budget, I couldn't justify it. Waterproof would be a plus also.

My MIL has something similar...

Vero Moda is crap quality ime. Have a look at the puffa coats on Uniqlo - they're very warm and reasonably priced. Are you looking for something smart or something warm (or both?) Zara have a khaki parka with a removable furry lining and hood which will be good for autumn and winter with a LO. I haven't worn mind yet but it's nice. £90.

Thanks monkey, will take look at the Zara option, sounds about right for what I need.
