curling tongs

does anyone use these anymore? have tried to curl my hair with my straightners as shown by the hairdresser but can't quite get it right.
wanted a soft defined curl, my hair is naturally wavy anyway, but to make it look more styled when I go out.
tips anyone?

Have you tried velcro rollers, they are quite good at giving a soft curl. I have a pair of tongs somewhere in the house, and if memory serves, the curl tended to be quite tight but very defined
