polka dot dress - yes/no?

Just tried one on in Primark - lightweight navy cotton with white dots, button through, tie belt, round collar, £10.
Are they
a) comfortable for the summer, flattering to hourglass figures and quite sexy in a Miss Moneypenny way
or
b) a hideous cross between a school uniform dress and a 1950s throwback?

Answers on a postcard. If a) please include shoe suggestions.

They are very very in at the moment and I think if you have got the figure to get away with a dress with it on then go for it. I sadly haven't. [envy}

i looked at a polka dot top yesterday hubby was horrified i liked it should have got it

The Primark one seems to feature in every "Summer Buys" column at the moment. There is also a nice long-sleeved one in Laura Ashley for £60.

Thank you for your advice, ladies - went and bought what appeared to be the last one in the South of England yesterday.

Got it home and tried it on, fully expecting DH's derision and after the inital shock of legs-on-view he came over all amorous , so my initial hope of quite-sexy-in-a-Miss-Moneypenny-way was realised.

Now, to find some shoes...
