New to ebay - can someone please explain watchers!

I've put my first few items on ebay yesterday, some clothes and shoes that I don't wear anymore as I could do with the money for new things.

Anyway, a couple of my items now have watchers, which I guess is good. But no bids yet.

So why are people watching and not bidding, are they all going to wait until the end of the auction?

I've never bought anything from ebay myself so it's all new to me and I'd just like someone to explain it all to me please, as I'm impatient and just want some bids!

Thanks. Smile

Yes they will either bid nearer the end or they could be watching to see what sort of price the item makes if they may have one to sell.

Thanks - Am I right in thinking that I can't see who the watchers are, and that it's not displayed on the listing that there are watchers. Maybe if they knew that others were watching they'd decide to bid!

I need to sit tight for a week and see what happens.

Or next time do a shorter auction!

Most people wait till the end. Knowing that there were other watchers would put me off bidding in theory, because that might then encourage them to bid, where if I wait till the last minute there is a chance that other people will forget to bid. In reality though, things usually have a few watchers, so it wouldnt make a lot of difference to what I did.

There is no point bidding until right at the end really. It just pushes the price up. Just sit tight!

I also watch things I like but think are over-priced so that I will get an alert if it is relisted (usually at a better price)
