I am a complete style disaster. Until now as soon as autumn came I simply pulled on a series of half-zip sweatshirts with my jeans which I wore for both work (we're an unbelievably unstylish bunch so no-one batted an eyelid) and leisure. I'm now in my mid forties and think I need to make a bit more of an effort. I've bought several pairs of new straight leg jeans (in dark colours) which I think look OK, but need to buy some lightish, casual, simple jumpers to wear with them. I saw a woman wearing a lovely fine guage slash necked wool marl jumper and thought that was the sort of think I would like but can't find anything like it. I have large nork so need slash, v or scooped neck, and much prefer darkish colours (grey, blues, dark reds etc). I'm short with not much of a waist anymore. Does anyone have any ideas? I'd be really grateful.

Unique ones are great, and wash and last really well.

I bought some lovely light knits from Gap, but they didn't last very well.

If you want something a bit smarter, lurk about LK Bennet sale..they always have cashmere cardis in various classic colours like dark greens and reds.

Take a look in TK Maxx. (online if you can't bear the store). I always find good quality cashmere and merino knitwear in there.

Thanks ujjayi - will do

I've come accross some nice light knitwear in H and M. Can't get to a shop, so can anyone say what the quality is like. It's very cheap - does it look it? I've always been impressed with the quality of their children's clothes for the price, but have never bought for me.

I like mint velvet knitwear, just bought This. There is a 20%code in Easy Living magazine, thinks its EASY12
Suits me as I'm busty

Agree Uniqlo very good, also some plainer Boden knits have lasted me years. Also have some Kew159 and Great Plains knits

I find h&m stuff cheap and cheerful but prefer to buy better knitwear, just think it lasts so much better.
