Is there a name for this kind of shoe? Stupid alert!

Odd question but my SIL had these shoes a couple of years ago, they were basically just the sole at the back but had an enclosed toe if you get what I mean!
I normally just wear flip flops in summer but I really liked them and I haven't seen any, they were white and had tiny cut out patterns in the toe bit.
Am I being really thick and they have a name for this kind of shoe or do they just come under sandals? I want to google and find some!

mules?

Thanks Treacle, knew I was being thick! I'm not getting quite right results in google but I think that's a better word to use than sandals!

What about sling backs?

SoldeInvierno · 12/08/2012 08:37

were they like hippy sandals, where only your big toe is held by the ring going around it?

SoldeInvierno · 12/08/2012 08:40

like this?

Convert · 12/08/2012 12:32

Not like that Solde, I'm not explaining myself very well! A flat sole like a flip flop but instead of the strap at the front, it's like the front of a shoe with the toes incased.
A bit like this <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=white+mules&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1525&bih=727&tbm=isch&tbnid=CIRwmDg8MEVxZM:&imgrefurl=www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/evans-ladies-white-leather-mules-size-9/108312404&docid=C-bEHqk2DtNpHM&imgurl=is00.thegumtree.com/image/big/144434996.jpg&w=358&h=268&ei=7pMnUIiWG-iM0AWAnYDoCg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=1220&vpy=201&dur=1821&hovh=194&hovw=260&tx=152&ty=100&sig=101775421671329391169&page=4&tbnh=156&tbnw=200&start=70&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:13,s:70,i:338" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=white+mules&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1525&bih=727&tbm=isch&tbnid=CIRwmDg8MEVxZM:&imgrefurl=www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/evans-ladies-white-leather-mules-size-9/108312404&docid=C-bEHqk2DtNpHM&imgurl=is00.thegumtree.com/image/big/144434996.jpg&w=358&h=268&ei=7pMnUIiWG-iM0AWAnYDoCg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=1220&vpy=201&dur=1821&hovh=194&hovw=260&tx=152&ty=100&sig=101775421671329391169&page=4&tbnh=156&tbnw=200&start=70&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:13,s:70,i:338
but without the sides IYSWIM!

Definitely mules.

Downbytheocean · 12/08/2012 12:46

Do you mean flat Indian slippers, like khussa? Lots on eBay -
khussa

Convert · 12/08/2012 13:07

Downbytheocean that's closer but they are still a bit sidey Grin

Have googled mules but can't find ones the same.
Also khussa but they are a bit too embellished (sp?) and the ones that aren't seem to have backs!!
Not slingbacks, they don't have a strap around the heel.
