Small(ish)birthday clothes budget-what should I buy?

Clothes have been neglected for a long time. I have bought a few white stuff tunic style tops and a pair of jeans in the last year, and a pair of nice knee high boots from jones.

I have a birthday coming up and want to kick start my wardrobe. At the moment, I feel frumpy most of the time. I am size 16 (in most things but not where vanity sizing not in operation) sometimes 14. I have a pear shape with considerable bust (bf still so likely to be like that for a while). But genuinely good legs- nice slim calves. I am likely to lose weight gradually now that dd2 is feeding less as this is what has happened naturally with the other two.

I do want to have slightly more interesting clothes although I will never be completely cutting edge.
So the budget is not earth shattering- £250- but enough to get a few key items. I would like to get some cheaper things and maybe a key something that's a bit more.

Where would you go and what would you buy?

I would look in TK Maxx Op and see what is on offer there. If you can give yourself plenty of time to browse. Alternatively look at the TK Maxx website. You'll find well known and not so well known (on these shores!) Brands.
You'll also be able to get basics like jeans as well as some great accessories or other items.
