Which style of boots are "in" this season?

I might buy another pair of boots-mainly to wear with skinny-ish jeans ( not painted on) and casual skinny-ish trousers.

Trend seems to be either Chelsea boot style, or laced up. Like these

Is it now old hat to wear trousers tucked into knee length boots?

Going by Pinterest, the favoured look for "fall" seems to be flat, sightly battered chestnut or tan over-the-knee boots worn over skinnies.

Luvlyjubblyclothes · 10/08/2012 09:09

That's shame- being short I don't do over the knee.

Ankle boots, like acne pistols, ash jalouse, or marant dickers. Every high st shop will have a copy, if the originals are above your price range.

Chelsea boots are in too.

I think long boots are out but I love mine

Luvlyjubblyclothes · 10/08/2012 09:13

Long boots are okay then with dresses and skirts?
I've 3 pairs of those so hope so- but one pair are wide enough to go over jeans.

I think the truth is that long boots have been around so long that they're now a classic so lots of people will still be wearing them with jeans tucked in. Whilst in wont be 'in' it won't be naff like Uggs for example.

It's mostly about ankle boots as trixy said.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 10/08/2012 09:19

So what do you wear with ankle boots? (bit of an old fuddy-duddy here)

WhyTheBigPaws · 10/08/2012 09:19

I thought ankle boots as mentioned by trixy were going to be the thing and I'll probably be investing in a pair but I won't be getting rid of my knee high boots any time soon. Despite someone saying the other day that the skinny jeans and knee boots look is a bit dated I think it's classic, especially if the boots are a timeless style eg riding type boots. Then again that may be because I've finally lost enough weight to get my short, stubby old legs into a nice pair of knee highs...

I bought the Lotta Beccles pair and although they are Clarks, I love them. Will definitely be keeping my knee high boots though. I think people should wear what suits them.

NoComet · 10/08/2012 09:40

I have two pairs of tan long boots do they are certainly still "in" here.

Am very tempted to some lace up short boots, because I can wear them with skirts and trousers. Short and fat, but with small feet and narrow ankles. My zip Mum boots flap about at the top, have to have leggings tucked in or boot cut jeans over them.

NoComet · 10/08/2012 09:42

So please keep posting lace up boot links, I can't stretch to £130

Luvlyjubblyclothes · 10/08/2012 09:44

Clarks and John Lewis online have some- around £80- £99.

I've got some which are this sort of shape but not as Cowboy-esque. I blummin' love them.

This Autumn I'm aiming for some grey ones (have been hunting for some for at least two years and not found what I want) and/or some that are a sort of wedge leather trainer type thing.

NoComet · 10/08/2012 10:08

Those are yummy, sadly slightly too high and one size too small even for me.

SwitchedtoEatingCheese · 10/08/2012 10:23

Starballbunny I have these.

They are very nice on and a bargain!

ellangirl · 10/08/2012 12:04

I just bought these, not exactly glam but a good price and fit my trotters feet well johnnie b clearance I also have johnnie B Chelsea boots from last season. Never got on with skinnies into knee boots anyway- felt like a horse rider with my strapping thighs!
