My 40th Birthday party.... HELPPPPPP!

Okay, so... I am 40 on Saturday. Tomorrow, the lovely Antonio will make my hair fabulous, which is a good start....

On Saturday we are celebrating in the garden with a hog roast: Pimms, Prosecco, Pig-on-a-spit, hay bales, bunting, and tea lights.... It's an evening party (children staying at Grandmas) hopefully ending with cheesy disco in the house.

WTF should I wear? I am not naturally glamourous but feel I should do better than jeans and flipflops! I am 5'1", size 12-14 with enormous bosoms so I don't do slinky... Please, PLEASE advise me, oh wise wimmin of mumsnet!

Something like this 50s job from Hearts and Roses? They have a few different options.

DO you do dresses ? What about a nice cotton sundress from white stuff/fatface/mistral/boden etc with some nice metallic sparkly sandals ?

EmmalinaC · 09/08/2012 22:38

Sparkly sandals = good. Maybe will start with feet....

Another vote for 50s look. Its great for a busty and hids all lumps and bumps.

Babyrabbits · 10/08/2012 07:17

Busty lady, sorry

Sounds like a great party.. :-)

Jeans will be fine as long as they are smart, i.e. fairly fitted (bootcut?), dark denim. A nice top and the sparkly sandals, a bit of jewlery and you'll be great!

Enjoy! By the way, if you're looking for decorations, etc I found this site a great help Birthday Party 4 U
