Vita liberata tan phenomenal dissapointment!

We had a discussion a few weeks ago about this self tan and I was excited to try it as I've wanted a tan that lasts longer than a few days. It's terrible I bought medium and there's hardly any colour at all once you've been in the shower. I put it on 3 times as per instructions and it's rubbish.
I'm so dissapointed I've e mailed them to complain, something I rarely do but I feel so ripped off as its so expensive!
Has anyone else found this?
I am hoping they will refund me if I send it back.

I found it really good and only applied once but I am very fair so it really shows on me and my skin looks really even and natural. What one do you usually use?

Hi noddy. I know you liked it
I would say I'm not really pale but not tanned either but it hardly gives me any colour?

I wanted to get this - does it smell of biscuits?

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 08/08/2012 16:56

I'm currently patch testing this on my stomach before I go the whole hog- it does give a lovely even tan and it's still there after a week - it has faded though. I've also bought the daily moisturiser one and applied it once to the other side of my stomach and that is still there but slightly patchier. VL IME doesn't give a deep tan but it does give a lovely even natural colour.

It doesn't smell at all Shock

I bought some a couple of weeks ago and am also very disappointed in it. No real colour after showering it off the next morning, so I reapplied it (was ok with that) and it then made my skin look really dirty.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 08/08/2012 17:05

Mmm - i'm quite pale and freckly. I wonder if the colour of VL works better on that skin tone?

flowwithit · 08/08/2012 20:15

I've just got email back from the company and they said the dark tan might be better for my skin? I would never have thought that as I told them I am pale to normal skin colour.

I have the medium, and I find it great. I am fair skinned and a bit sallow. It doesn't smell initially, but once it colours your skin, it does have that biscuity smell, they all have it. Absolutely hate that smell, but if I have to bare skin, I will put up with it. Still like it, very even tan. Apply thickly enough, I think it needs heavier than you would expect application.

Oh I posted on the other tread then debemhams had 50% off VL and I got the medium moisturiser one - I think it s lovely and it lasts well - I ve Ben using it about a month. I m pale and freckled Smile got lots of compliments. It does smell - but not as strongly as some. The medium (one coat) is enough for me and I put a bit on every 2-3 days after exfoliating. I m well impressed as it hasn't gone patchy as I swim 5 times a week.
I also use vani-t bronzing custard and that s v good too. Maybe a bit better than VL but hard to source.

flowwithit · 09/08/2012 13:10

Oh I wonder why it's not working on my skin then? I hope the dark one will be better. Will try 2 coats of medium one to see if it's any better.

I have tried all 3 colours of this PheNo tan from vita liberata and I've been fake tanning for 15 years, tried everything! This was the worst one ever, I followed the instructions correctly, it turned scaly and patchy within 3 days and most of it had come off. I've tried it a few times now in case I had dry skin at the time or something... I really would have loved it to work 2 weeks without having to tan would be amazing! I put the layers on, it was such a waste of money :-(

I've been recommending VL tan for yonks on MN.

Shocked at this.
