Got one in the sale - grey - how do you wear yours and for what?

Just need to be sure it's going to be worn enough in case it's a mistake in grey ( and hence why in sale!)

I have it in navy. I wore it out to dinner at the weekend and wear it by day with flat sandals. It is quite a versatile dress. You could wear it to work with a blazer or cardigan. You can't go wrong, really.

lurkingaround · 06/08/2012 14:10

Does it not look a bit odd with a cardigan? Even a blazer? With all that ruching I couldn't think what would look good over it. I have also looked at this dress about a million a few times and keep wondering what to wear over it. V tempting in the sale. Do they never make it with a bit of a sleeve? Even in winter?

GoingforGoingforGOLD · 06/08/2012 14:12

Vhat is this dress of which you speak. I love a bit of ruching

Liveinthepresent · 06/08/2012 14:40

Thanks for replies - I think navy would be probably easier but the grey is a nice soft colour and of course the sale price was what swayed me.
It looks good with my snakeskin shoes...

GOLD see link- I learned of it on style and beauty boards and have been coveting but couldn't justify full price!

That is beautiful. I couldn't do it in the daytime though but I am a slob

MrsCampbellBlack · 06/08/2012 14:43

You could dye it navy.

I tried it on but am only 5ft and was too much material for me.

cybbo · 06/08/2012 15:02

Too dressy for ordinary daytime I think

Work, or night out

Decameron · 06/08/2012 16:37

With flat sandals it's very casual as it's jersey. I wear it to the playground.

Liveinthepresent · 06/08/2012 17:13

Decameron - if its not too nosy what size are you? I feel it might look less trussed up on someone younger and slimmer than me - I am a bit worried the ruching might be bulking me up and be exaggerating because I am pear shaped Sad
For me it feels like the ruching is quite obvious and makes it look smarter.
Quite like the idea of dying it - no idea how effective that would be.

Decameron · 06/08/2012 17:20

I'm size 12. I think Hopefully on the W&A thread dyed her dress successfully. I like it in the grey though.

HerRoyalNotness · 06/08/2012 17:26

I'm pear shaped and size 12. I think the point of the ruching is it hides the lumps and bumps. I haven't been brave enough to wear it yet really it's been too hot. I might break it out for autumn.

Chubfuddler · 06/08/2012 17:38

I've never come across this brand before. The clothes are beautiful. What's the sizing like? A pear shaped 14 - a 14 or a 16 or a 12? I'm 35-29-42

HerRoyalNotness · 06/08/2012 17:39

I'm normally between sizings in clothes (10-12), and went for the medium (12) which fits well.

Specialbrew · 06/08/2012 18:30

I also got the grey in the sale, but it looked dreadful on me (5 3" size 8). I think there was too much ruching. I have a similar Anglomania dress which looks a whole lot better - skims rather than clings - so I sent this one back. If it had looked good I would have worn with heeled boots (knee and ankle) in winter, and low wedges in summer. I can't do flats - too short!

Liveinthepresent · 06/08/2012 19:16

Right tried it on again earlier - am going to keep it as for the price I do feel it's a good buy - if I lose weight I will feel more confident in everything - and am making slow progress on that.
Agree hotness autumn may be better.
If the colour proves limiting I reckon I will try dying it.
Currently think I can wear it to work / work lunches and maybe smart days out if I ever have any while I am in toddler mode!

chubfuddler I don't know my measurements but I am currently a 12 top and a big 14 bottom - I got medium and fits well - you can pull it down longer to lessen the padding effect of the ruching.

Well I seem to have accidentally tripped over my credit card and ordered it in grey. Also the martini dress in that fawn sort of colour - they only had that in 12-14 so may well be too small but I do need to list at least another stone so it may spur me on.

And am both hurrah and oh crap that I have found this lovely lovely brand.

Hopefully · 06/08/2012 20:02

God, I love this dress. I have it in two colours Blush - navy and the light olive, which I dyed a much darker olive. It is insanely flattering on me [modest]

Liveinthepresent · 06/08/2012 20:56

Hope you like it chubfuddler you can hold me personally responsible for your 'accident' this board has prompted me to buy so many things - but I have to say most of them have been very successful.
I liked the martini dress too - it is a lovely website.

Thanks for another vote of confidence Hopefully - and good to know you are the successful dyer decameron mentioned.

And now I've gone crazy on the great plains sale site too. Whoops.

Liveinthepresent · 06/08/2012 21:59

Don't tempt me!

OP posts:
Chubfuddler · 06/08/2012 22:10

I've ordered the Amy lace dress, Cora knit dress and copacabana maxi skirt.

lurkingaround · 06/08/2012 22:44

Yes, well, the flipping ruched dress is now sold out. Fanks for that, mumsnet.
After agonising considering my decision carefully for the past while, I decided to go for it and buy it, esp given the dyeing success, and the sale price. So I went online, credit card at the ready. SOLD OUT, in cheeky capital letters popped up, capital letters like it was mocking my indecision.

That'll learn me to hesitate.

Liveinthepresent · 06/08/2012 23:27

lurking I hate that!

chubfuddler am now on great plains!!

OP posts:
Chubfuddler · 07/08/2012 05:44

Liveinthepresent · 09/08/2012 14:59
