I think I'll be needing one over the next few months-grrrr!

I'd like one that's solid and won't turn inside out easily or break within 5 minutes! Are thete any good makes out there?

I have one from Uniqlo bought a couple of years ago which is strong and was cheap. It has a curverd handle, not compact, and they arent on the website at the moment but i think they have them in shops.

I've just got a Fulton birdcage brolly from Amazon.

It's not the smallest of brollies but in terms of keeping me dry it's brill.

Less likely to be blown inside out because of the design (apparently).

Oooh-I've just had a look on Amazon; this one is very nice!

Birdcage or dome is essential: the evil uk winds cannot mess with these babies.

Sadly cannot fold these up into handbag though, but great weapons when people are shoving you around in the supermarket;)

Lets - that's just like mine except I went for the pink spotty one (soz, can't link from phone).

It is 'plasticy' in terms of material but is very very sturdy and as mentioned, very useful for prodding people out of the way in supermarkets!! Wink

I've got a very small Fulton that has served me well for about 9 years or so, it was the smallest one I could find, I have seen shorter ones but not any that are thinner.

I also have a Samurai umbrella which is really good I got from Firebox it's carbon fibre and stuff very sturdy comes with a shoulder strap and the sword style handle is the best very comfy to hold.

Saying that tho my BF has a big golf umbrella thats about 5 years old, bought at JD Sports or some place similar for £2 it's been inside out a number of times but has all ways survived being pulled back the right way again.

Check out umbrellas at www.totes.co.uk There's a small range of double canopy windproof umbrellas in appealing colours/patterns.

My supermini Totes is a well-made and sturdy little number - at only 15cm long it takes up barely any room in a handbag and fits in most pockets.

www.coopersofstortford.co.uk have a BOGOF offer on their windproof umbrellas and you can get 2 for £9.99. Lots of jolly colours plus a couple of tartan numbers to cheer the eye in wet weather.

Wow, the idea of a wondproof umbrella that isn't a dome! The totes link is tempting!

I would have to see this in action before I believed it, such is my umbrella related cynicism. They'd have to take me to the laboratory where it underwent one of those windtunnel tests.

Haha, Windproof
