Hi

My lovely DSis is getting married in March. She is having 3 bridesmaids - me & 2 others.

I am size 26-28, one bridesmaid is size 18-20 and i think the other is about an 18 too.

The one who is 18-20 wears a lot of fifties dresses (the flared out type, not the slinky type) and always looks FAB. So we have decided to look at fifties stlye for all of us - colour is RED.

Do any of you lovely ladies know where they do size 26-28 fifties style dresses? We are based in the North East and I cant seem to find any at all. The websites which say plus Size only go up to size 22?

Any help would be very welcome.

Thanks

Smile

I just looked on my friend's site and hers also only go up to 22. Have you thought about going to a dress maker? Avoid mentioning the "W" word and you might be able to find someone to make you something lovely for a reasonable price. Perhaps you could get the other BM to buy something for herself and then take it to a dress maker to make you something similar.

Courtesan boutique do a few (up to size 32 in some models, 28 in others) made to order in pretty much any colour you like. Might be more than you want to pay though. I adore this one, simpler.

(the petticoat is part of the dress, you'd pay 50 quid ish for a good petticoat so that's worth factoring in)

Oh, just ran into this divine thing. UK based etsy seller, made to measure, boned, lined the full works.

A lady called Wendy at Flossy & Dossy makes 50s style bridesmaid dresses - they're really nice and not stupid expensive. They're made to measure so any size. I'm not sure what the web address is, but you can google it and will find it - not everything is on the site, she will do bespoke too. My friend is getting dresses made I think it's about £200 each but that's for a bespoke style made to measure with a lace overlay, so quite fancy.

Also check out www.unique-vintage.com - they're a US site (also have a huge physical shop somewhere in the US) and they do zillions of 50s style dresses. I've bought from there and their customer service is very good.
