I need a new swimming costume with a *long body*

Where can I get one cheaply?
Doesn't have to be swish or have any special features. Only for occasional swimming.
Something funky would be good but every one I try on in fashion shops cuts my butt in two because it's too short in the body.
Come on, who's got the same problem? Where'd you get your cossies?

I'm a shortarse so have no direct experience of this, but my tall mama swears by \link{www.landsend.co.uk\Land's End} swimsuits.

JanH · 07/03/2006 20:38

Long Tall Sally have just one - \link{http://www.longtallsally.com/productkit.aspx?ProdId=32L02\£35,} is that a lot? (No size 12 or 16 though...)

Albert · 07/03/2006 20:39

Speedo used to make swimsuits in long sizes, available in most sport shops - don't know if they still do.

JanH · 07/03/2006 20:39

MuminBrum's \link{http://www.landsend.co.uk/icat/l5_5005\Lands End} link. (They are dearer than LTS but you do get a choice!)

BHS do long length swimsuits

I got mine in bhs, not funky though, it was balck. It was about £25 but maybe cheaper in the Uk as Gibraltar always put a few quid on everything.

alexsmum · 07/03/2006 20:43

i have a landsend one .that's a good fit.
marks and spencer do one long length one each year, usually very plain black or navy.you would have to hunt for it or ask at the orders desk for them to track it down.
i have the same problem-nightmare.

lucy5 · 07/03/2006 20:43

oops black!

jalopy · 07/03/2006 20:45

Landsend. Always get mine from them.

soyabean · 09/03/2006 16:38

I have had one from Landsend: good and long but expensive and basic. had two from bhs that were cheap (2-3 yrs ago) but very quicly went out of shape. Currently have abasic black Speedo long length, probably best so far.

foxinsocks · 09/03/2006 16:40

oh pruni you sound like me. I have a long body but short legs (makes me sound so attractive!). All shirts hang on top of my trousers and my trousers are always too long in the leg!!

I've got one nice costume from M&S and also one from Speedo (but had to try the Speedo ones on because I found their sizing a bit strange).

cod · 09/03/2006 16:45

bhs bhs bhs

Wallace · 09/03/2006 16:45

I got a great tankini from tesco the other day. I think it was about £4 each for the top and shorts style bottoms. You can also get brief bottoms and bikini top. I got khaki, I think you can also get a dark reddish colour or black.

motherinferior · 09/03/2006 16:47

I have the opposite problem; not that my legs are long or anything, but my trunk is peculiarly truncated.

Makes me sound like an elephant amputee, doesn't it.

trice · 09/03/2006 17:20

\link{http://www.swimsuitsforall.com/Shop-list-114.html\swimsiuts for all} have some more interesting/less mumsy suits. If you go through rpoints you get 5% cashback and its free shipping worldwide.

jenkel · 09/03/2006 18:01

I was advised that Maru ones tend to come up a little longer, I have one and it fits fine.

soyabean · 11/03/2006 17:12

foxinsox you are right about trying on speedos: sizing is really odd. Cod my bhs ones turned into saggy bags very quickly, maybe they have got better and I should try again

princessmel · 19/11/2006 11:33

Ooooh just found this by googling tall swimsuits!
I should have just looked on mumsnet first! I'm going to put one on the xmas list I give my mum.

Kath48 · 22/02/2011 23:13

I need a swimsuite with a long body for my 10yr old. The 14yrs M&S is too small and the adult ones are too low and gapy at the fromt. We like the adidas styles best so far but again the larger sizes which fit her body length are too large at the front. Any ideas gratefully received.
