What shoes with sequin dress so I don't look mutton...

Further to my thread the other day looking for a sequin dress, I've got this Topshop dress. It's not at all what I thought would suit me, but it's so cute on! The only thing is, I'm 33, and I need some shoes that don't make me look like mutton dressed as lamb. My original plan was for glittery heels, but I think it would be a bit too much.

This is how Carly Rae Jepsen wore it, she's a lot younger than me, but I think I'd like to go the same way with the shoes, would that be a mistake? I think it needs shoes that are a little 'edgy' as apposed to pretty, would you agree?

I quite like these but I don't suppose I'd ever wear them again!

I love them shoes, they are gorgeous. I'd say it would look lovely together.

Wish I had the money for them shoes :(

Ooh, I love that dress. I really want a sequin skirt! I personally would go for something plain, black even, but that's because I'm not a huge fan of embellished/fussy shoes. How about an ankle western boot type thing. Can't link at the moment but everywhere does them.

That's the trouble Rachel, they are a bit expensive for something I'll probably only wear once! I did think about black QC, but I wasn't sure, I love those kind of boots normally, but I want to be a bit 'dressier' really.

I have these at home, but I'm not sure if they would work, I think they look better with opaques and I don't think I'll be wearing them. Or I have these but they kill my feet!

Glad you went for that dress shell - it was my favourite too Smile

Apologies in advance. Those Topshop shoes are absolutely rancid. And would ruin the dress.

The cream and black ones are the wrong colours. Same for the blue ones.

I think you need less edgy....more plain. The dress is the main even after all?

Will have a mooch.

Agree with Bunny - plain black would be best. Perhaps suede to give a lovely contrast of texture?

shelldockley · 31/07/2012 10:47

That's ok Bunny, I'm not offended! Please help me look, although one thing, I'm not very good in really high court shoes, if they're really high, I need to be strapped in!

How about something like this

or maybe these?

I agree that they need to be understated as the dress does all the talking!

thepeoplesprincess · 31/07/2012 11:34

Another vote for plain black.

The Miss Selfridge link didn't work but I like the New Look ones, might try those!

Also love these but they are probably too high and pricey!
