What d'you carry your laptop in?

JodieHarsh · 29/07/2012 20:22

I have just got a new laptop and it's pretty big (15.5" screen), but very slim and light. I need something to carry it in and I'm just bloody not going to be seen carrying a laptop case and that's that.

Can anyone inspire me? What do you folks use? If I had unlimited funds I'd probably get one o'they Mulberry things, but alas, I don't. I'd like it to be big enough to not need another bag, sturdy enough to take the laptop and some papers, definitely feminine but not in any way 'girly' , preferably with a long strap so I can carry it over my shoulder/across my body, but also with a short strap so I can carry it over my arm.

Reckon I could spend £100-£120 ish maybe? And I don't mind indeed (indeed, embrace) second hand.

I realise this is a bit of a moon-on-a-stick type plea Grin

I have a sleeve - just a boring padded neoprene sleeve, and then I put that it one of the longchamp lepliage bags (about seventy quid)

JodieHarsh · 29/07/2012 20:32

Right, just looking up longchamp, thanks!

I think I probably should get a sleeve thingy. I should also insure it immediately because I am a clumsy oaf.

I use a neoprene sleeve for my netbook and then bought a handbag from Accessorize big enough for it to fit into. Granted it's smaller, but may be doable?

JodieHarsh · 29/07/2012 20:33

Def. going to get a sleeve thingy.

This is the trouble you see - in the past I've used a netbook which comfortably fit into my handbag/s, but this thing's very wide/long, so I need a new bag to accommodate it. Just dunno what!

Quite fancy a cath kidston one.

I have a red leather Pied a Terre tote style bag that I got in the House of Fraser sale last year (have tried to find a picture to link but failed miserably).

I can fit in my laptop, diary, papers etc. and it gets a lot of positive comments.

I also have a black messenger bag and a wheely laptop bag for traveling.

Charliefox · 29/07/2012 21:38

Knomo do nice ones and I've spotted em in tkmaxx too. First saw them in a pic with Waity Katies sis.

Trills · 29/07/2012 21:39

Put it in a sleeve.

Then put the sleeve in a handbag (more practical for a 13 incher than a 15incher)

or often I put the sleeve and the charger etc into a canvasy reusable shopping bag and just carry my normal handbag

StatisticallyChallenged · 29/07/2012 23:23

I have to carry a (quite chunky) 15" laptop for work. I am afraid I just took it shopping with me one day! However, I have two bags from Modalu which fit it comfortably, several from accessorize, one from Ted Baker and a spotty tweed one from Ness. There are actually quite a lot out there that will take one.

[[http://www.asos.com/Modalu/Modalu-Leather-Bibi-Shark-Grab-Bag/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1931065&r=2 this] is one of mine

From memory, Karen Millen and Fossil also had ones which were big enough

StatisticallyChallenged · 29/07/2012 23:23

this even!

wriggletto · 29/07/2012 23:36

I've got a Domke camera bag for mine - decent padding, lots of pockets, fairly low key. I tote my laptop around most days and the canvas looks better as it gets a bit battered.

Domke bag

I would Second charliefox with Knomo.
They have some in the sale in your budget and customer services have been helpful with questions.

JodieHarsh · 30/07/2012 08:21

Thank you SO MUCH. Buttloads of options here.

Patricularly struck by Knomo - actually specifically designed for diferent sizes laptops - had no idea there was such a thing!

I am very tempted by this - though I don't know what the discount isn't showing up Confused. Excellent tip on looking in TK Maxx. That ASOS bag is lush as well.

Fab. I have just sent an invoice for a job and have earmarked the money for a bag so they'd better bloody pay up sharpish. Cheers all Thanks

What does anyone think about a sleeve, then putting a laptop in a satchel type bag?

MrsHelsBels74 · 30/07/2012 09:03

I've got a pink fluffy Hello Kitty sleeve Grin but I don't use a laptop for work so it is rarely used!

janmoomoo · 30/07/2012 11:10

This bag is the business here

It has a laptop section, phone pockets, and large area for all my other crap necessities. It is really strong and has carry handles and a shoulder strap (which I don't use). It also comes in black but I have the purple. I have had it for over two years and it still looks like new.

The mock-croc wasnt really my thing (I was given it as a present) but I get loads of comments on this bag from strangers (even men) and colleagues. Now three other people in my team have got the same bag because they all loved it so much. I have also got a mulberry bayswater and no-one every comments on that!

AlpinePony · 30/07/2012 11:44

I have the bottom one in this pic in "lady of the night" red leather.

www.eastline-leder.de/pages/uk/kollektion/savanna_uk.html

It's a shit pic, but once it's zipped up it just looks like a normal bag. Wasn't too expensive, about 100 quid I think.

LogonMounstuart · 30/07/2012 16:09

I put mine in a sleeve then satchel Clayfeet. Can then wear over shoulder or across body and not too girlie.
