is it me am I washing them too much?/wrong way?- I recently bought a pair of £60 Religion jeans ,loved them great fit but after a month they have faded to a dark grey with very faded parts around the zip area, do all black jeans go like this?

do you wash them inside out? i wash all dark jeans inside out and then they dont lose their colour as much.

what kind of washing powder are you using and what temp are you washing them at?

bishboschone · 29/07/2012 12:26

Wash them on their own at 30 with liquid colour detergent . It will be your powder that fades them . Non colour detergent has bleach in it .

Yes I washed them inside out, 40-60 degree wash and I use Bold tablets, just wondered if all black jeans go this way?

cooler wash and different washing powder/liquid then?

they really shouldnt fade that much in a month!

When my black jeans fade I buy black dye and dye them-just the Dylan stuff you use in the washing machine. Brings them back lovely.

thanks for the replies, I will give the liquid colour detergent a go/and cooler wash

I have some lovely New Look black skinnies (7/8 length) and they are holding their colour remarkably well. Had them about 3 months. Still look brand new. Cheap as chips too.

My nudie jeans have stayed black black. However, there is so much dye in them the colour comes off on your nails if you have your hands in your pockets or whatever.

You don't need to wash jeans at 60 unless you want to shrink them . 30 is fine and a gentle wash . Also tumble dryers wil damage the black . Drip dry .. Also inside out will help.

I agree with NoGood get thyself some Dylon for in the washing machine and bring them back to life. T'is what my Auntie always does just watch out for dye lurking on the seal when you're putting the next load in

Agree with NoGood and comelywench above.
I always wash at 30, with liquid colour detergent and my Zara jeans still faded v badly and quickly. A quick Dylon in the machine and they're like new.

Just follow the instructions and do an empty wash with bleach after and don't be a smart arse like me who thought she knew better and ruined her white sheets. Joining the club with comely
