Just that really!

I love hypnotic poison and ran out months ago and it's well out of my price range:(

I would like to try a perfume oil as i've been told they are stronger smelling and last longer.

So come and tell me where I can get good but cheap imitations from. Please and Thank You Grin

I posted about this earlier today on another thread - search perfume oils on ebay or if you want to go direct try perfume-parlour.co.uk

hypnotic is one of my favourites and I love it as a little roll on I can just chuck in my handbag :)

Are these perfume oils any good? I'm tempted to try this one or this one in Liquify, but I'm not sure that they can be any good.
They are only cheap, but will I regret it?

I've bought from Pefrume Parlour/Base Notez.
My experience is that it's a bit hit and miss. The good oils are a very close match but some are a bit blah.
You do need to be careful not to get the oils on your clothes (sleeve etc if applying to wrist) as they can stain, so make sure they have dried down completely before any clothing touches them.

I haven't personally tried perfume oils from those sources but it's worth knowing that the souks of North Africa are full of them. Because of religious restrictions on alcohol use, they make alcohol free versions for the local market. Depending on the point of view, they are either cheap pirated knockoffs or tributes to classics. O

I have some legitimate oil-based perfumes from niche houses and as pointed out above, they are sometimes tricky to wear. You need to apply them about 20 to 30 minutes before they fully warm up and develop. And if you don't like them, they don't go away Wink.

If you are into niche perfumery, I would recommend buying genuine perfume samples (these will be alcohol-based, not oil-based) directly from the perfume houses. Some samples are very cheap (google Olfactive Studio, Histoires de Parfums, Parfums d'Empire, YS Uzac, Etat Livre d'Orange) - it's also a great way to get an idea what truly good raw materials smell like (try Tauer Perfumes); sometimes you can also get them for free if you write them a nice letter. Some of the cheapest legitimate samples in Europe come from Parfumeria Neroli - for about two euros per sample, you can sample truly exquisite perfumes.

DonaAna, thanks for mentioning Tauer perfumes. I had two Andy Tauer fragrances back about 5 or more (?) years ago, L'air du désert marocain and another one that I can't remember the name of. I never replaced them but I did love them . Thanks for reminding me about them, I will have to order some. Absolutely gorgeous fragrances and wonderful quality.

Yes Shh - LADDM is really wonderful (DH wore it today - I wear it often too) - that's what a quality product smells like.

For those who don't do currency conversions every day, Tauer sample sets cost 20 GBP for 5 perfumes - a bargain, plus the samples last forever.
