Wedge hi-top trainers - should I? But with what?

I quite like these new hi-top trainers with the invisible wedge that all the celebs are wearing ..... But should I? Or is 32 too old to be wearing that sort of get up? With skinnys?

Would you?

Only with skinnies. I think flatter ones have more staying power, like the Ash ones. Kurt Geiger do them sometimes too

dexter73 · 27/07/2012 10:32

I don't think age has anything to do with it. I wouldn't but I think are definitely a love/hate item, so if you love them then try them.

I have some of these (in black) from River Island. They're comfy and give me a few much-needed extra inches! I also like the fact that you can remove the wedge if you want to. But I agree, only to be worn with skinnies.

lurkingaround · 27/07/2012 10:37

You can remove the wedge? High heels, low heels. Why have I never seen these? And why do other companies not make these kind of shoes.

mariposa1 · 27/07/2012 10:44

I only found out about the removable wedge when I did a search for them online and this blog came up (it's mentioned in the comments section at the bottom of the page)

What? The wedge is INSIDE the trainer?!

Spicysalamander · 27/07/2012 13:17

I don't understaaaaand Blush

Is it just being on tiptoes in your shoe? Why is that good?

savoycabbage · 27/07/2012 13:21

I don't get it either. So they are like wearing secret high heels? Like a stiletto inside a welly?Confused

VerityBrulee · 27/07/2012 14:23

I have a pair and they are sooo comfortable, and at 5'3" I am happy to have the extra height. Age has nothing to do with it. I am 43. I wear them with skinnies.

BupcakesandCunting · 27/07/2012 14:39

I don't understand. I must be a gimmer. Why wouldn't you just wear a pair of wedges or heels?

otchayaniye · 27/07/2012 14:43

their brief day came last year, so i'd avoid.

alwaysrunninginheels · 27/07/2012 17:02

I have worn the Ash ones i got 3 years ago loads. I love mine- really comfy and i wear them with skinnies. They are very much a love/hate item though and i think you have to feel really confident in them to pull them off. But for me one of the most worn items i have ever bought!

Poodlepower · 27/07/2012 17:18

I normally wear converse but am tiny so thought it might just give me a slight boost!

Another 5ft nothing fan here!
I have the ash ones and today saw a great pair by bertie in john Lewis.
I wear with skinny jeans and sometimes skinny flares. They are soo comfy.
But yes, a love / hate item!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/07/2012 18:03

I think the ones with the hidden wedge are horrible but I rather like the Ash ones with the visible wedge - too expensive though. I'd wear them with skinnies and a loose-ish top.

pudding25 · 27/07/2012 19:06

Love them so much. Desperate for a pair of Ash ones but far too pricey. I am 40 and wouldn't think twice about wearing them.
