I like it, dp got me a bracelet for xmas which I love and get loads of compliments about. I got him a necklace for fathers day which he wears occasionally as its bigger and blingier than I expected. I rarely see anyone else wearing it but have now seen it sold everywhere on lots of jewellery market stalls and online catalogues seem to be doing it? So who is buying it? Is it a teenage fad?!

The only person I know who has a shambala bracelet is my mum. She does love her bling!

LaurieFairyCake · 26/07/2012 08:52

Yes, dd (14) has lots of it.

A local posh jewellers sells it and their stuff doesn't look much different at all and the bracelets are £130.

Qvc do nice ones for £15.

I had never heard of it and just did a quick google - christ at the prices! £15 grand for bits of leather and gems which look like it costs a tenner from the market.

I can assure you ours are not the £15 grand variety! Grin I think mine is a mid price one as it it very sturdy compared to the cheaper ones iv seen but looks identical. I had never heard of it but dp kept going on about slebs wearing them, I just thought it was a pretty gift. It obviously is not catching on up my neck of the woods.

Dd does want one too she is 8, if I get her and ds one [yes they do baby ones! ] We could be a shamballa family! Grin

GetOrfBernard · 26/07/2012 09:16

Look at the prices of these bracelets people must be nuts

They look nice for £15, not for 15 grand!

I got a shamballa bracelet from ebay with a 'mystic topaz' (woo!) and it's really shiny and pretty, I get loads of compliments. I might wear it today actually. But on a man? Hmm, I'm not sure it's very masculine in style, and I say that as someone who has bought their DP a crystal nipple ring in the past!

I don't know anything about the origins of shamballa though. Sounds vaguely Eastern, maybe hindu?

SugarBatty · 26/07/2012 09:43

Yes a bit like Kaballa bracelets? Well my guy has seen jay z, kanye and the like wearing them so he felt it was ok! It looks ok on a night out but I do feel a bit Blush when he puts it on to go to tesco! And it weighs a ton!

Bernard mine looks exactly the same as the 0045 bracelet at £60,000! I think it cost £7.99, and that was a mid-price version!!

NoComet · 26/07/2012 09:52

Those look like the perfect project for DD1s ranger group.

Although I don't think they will be making £56,000 gold and diamond onesGrin

Glad to know I am a pioneer in kids craft jewellery starball! Grin

You would have to be mad to spend that much wouldn't you. A load of old gems tied up in a bit of leather.
