What top to wear with navy blue linen trousers?

Just that really...I have some wide legged & long linen trousers that I forgot I had.
I don't want to look old wearing them (am 39)

Any suggestions? Would wear either converse, Birkenstocks or ballet flats with them.

Breton striped top? French connection have a nice one in the sale.

Thanks - I have a few Breton style tops, only they are winter weight material..maybe I shall seek out a summer version

Are stripes the only way to go then?

Fitted white T shirt.

I am slightly large of chest (& probably self conscious)

Fitted t- shirts need to be good quality & scooped neck (but not too low)

The FC top I saw was a boat neck and good quality. I'm bog of boob too and boat neck is ok on me.

I think stripesa re the obvious answer with navy wide legged trousers, but plenty of other stuff would go too as they are fairly neutral.

Deep red... dunno maybe some kind of loose fitting short sleeved top in a cotton/wool mix; like a jersey knit but in summer fabric. Or a strappy top with a shrug/cardi of suitable lightness and colour.

White is a bit sailor for me. Beige a bit boring; maybe a nice light coffee colour would be nice.

A coral colour would be nice with navy.

White has a classic/ clean look.

I like lime green with navy.
