Shorts for the thunderous of thigh

I need new shorts for the summer hols. I'm more or less size 12 - the 'more' being my thighs and the 'less' being my waist. Tried some on in sainsbos (as I was there) - hopeless, either tight round the upper leg or baggy at the waist or both!

As I'm 5'1, also needs to be actual shorts not 'misnomers' descending to knees Grin

Any ideas - high street preferably. Thanks!

Boden chino shorts if there are any left - have similar shape and they fit well. Come up a bit loose, I think

They look a bit long for short legs - does 'rolling these up until you reach the desired length' work?

I have the same problem - small waist and thunder thighs! Tried every high street shorts under the sun last summer, looking for some that don't cling round the thighs. The only ones I found were from Whistles - £65!!! But I bought them and wear them a lot, so figure it's worth it in ££ per wear. They do give the illusion of tiny thighs, so that's got to be worth £65 at least Grin

Same problem here, except I'm actually tall (6ft). Have the thigh/waist issue though. I eventually found some in Tesco of all places. That was about a month and a half ago but they might still have them. They were £8 each and had a sort of fabric belt; came in black, white, navy and khaki.

If its any of the ones currently available from Tesco Direct that sounds like the 'mid length' which would be too long for me but might suit someone taller. The 'limited edition' ones look like they might be the right sort of shape...

These shorts from Great Plains are remarkably flattering. I am thunderous of thigh too and they are ridiculously flattering. I'm a size 12 on the bottom and got the size 10, GP sizing quite generous imo. And best of all - only a tenner!

Ah, yes, those are the ones. MYou might be right about the length. They came up very short on me but then I do have very long legs! Might be witlrth trying them on, the bottom rolls and secures with a button so they might adjust ok.

I'm going to try those Great Plains .... still looking for a white pair (got horrid suncream stains on my favourite old ones last year). Thanks! Smile

What about culottes? Tighter round the waist and then much looser around the thigh. ASOS have quite a few here

GrimmaTheNome · 26/07/2012 09:55

The Great Plains ones are the right proportions - wide enough and short enough! Bit tight on the tum but that's my fault and I should have lost a bit by the time we go away. Smile
