I'm off on holiday soon. Two weeks in the sun and heat with no air con. My hair is naturally frizzy/very very curly and I always wear it blow dryed and straight at home. On holiday it is an absolute nightmare and I spend the whole time feeling uncomfortable with a frizz ball on my head. I've just had the brainwave of getting a clip on hair extension type pony tail. That way I can hide my frizzy hair and clip this over the top for a glam evening look with no hassle and sweat. Will I look ridiculous or will I get away with it? I wouldn't dream of wearing one in England but we all do things on holiday we wouldn't otherwise do!

Normally I'd say beware of doing a Victoria Beckham as it can look v naff but given your dilema I'd say go for it. Especially on holiday!

I am worried it'll look naff but the thought of not having to tackle my hair every evening is very appealing. I'm a bit worried about getting the colour match correctly or that could look even worse. I have memories of Lizzie Bardsley on wife swap!

I've got one and I love it. It's from Selfridges and is attached with a crocodile clip and couldn't be any easier to use. Go for it.

Does it matter on holiday? I'd say sod it

MsKayGee · 22/07/2012 09:06

Go for it. I love mine, takes me two minutes to do my hair for a night out. I got mine from a hairdressing trade supplier and they had every colour imaginable for the perfect match.

Read this the other day, might be interesting to you. It looks great, I think.

I got one (like a hairy scrunchy) and I love it. I've never had so many compliments about my hair. Mine is naturally slow growing, v fine, just longer than jaw length, and even when it's just been done looks sort of scruffy and untended. I've got 3 identical ones from Lloyds chemist which were reduced to about £1.99 and then 99p and they're a perfect match for my hair colour. Got a Ken Paves one from QVC but there's too much hair on it for me and the scrunchie doesn't wrap round more than once. But if you can find one that matches your hair and fastens securely then I'd def give it a try.

i had one of these a few years ago, i thought it looked great and used to wear it on nights out

looking back at pictures of me wearing it i looked like i had a dead rat on the back of my head.

iklboo · 22/07/2012 16:03

I did when I dressed as a dominatrix once.

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 22/07/2012 18:56

Oh God!LOL I always look at the back of my head in the mirror and think the clip in looks ok but now I'm worried it might look like a dead rat in RL. I'm going to get someone to take a picture of it!LOL

Slightly different situation here as I lost my hair having chemo. I collected a variety of hairpieces and wigs and my favourite by far is a clip in ponytail! I used a fake fringe of the same colour, then a very wide headband and I clipped the ponytail to the bottom of the headband and sort of swirled the hair upwards and pinned it. Honestly, it looked real and like I'd just done a messy updo.

i guess they have moved on since the one i had

would actually consider having one now
