I havent bought from them when I realised that my 11 year old niece was right "it's overpriced and old fashioned, can I have a H and M voucher instead?" I still like their pj bottoms though. Anyway I just got an email saying theres up to 70% off and my sister is heavily preggas so I thought id have a look. Goodness me, jersey £100 dresses going for the knockdown price of £79? T Shirts with a fiver knocked off? It's nowhere near 60% has Johnny lost his ability to do maths? Has he got greedy?

some of the discounts were good, but i went back for a browse and the stuff left has tiny discounts on it. I only seem to buy for the dc now and only in the sale or with huge discount codes. e.g ds2 who is 10 had chosen some hideous blue camo shorts which i couldnt bring myself to pay £25 odd for, but got in the sale for £7.60.

TheBolter · 17/07/2012 13:22

The discounts used to be much better, but I'm sure the discounted prices now are more than what we were paying full price about 7 or 8 years ago.

I don't shop with them anyway - I think the clothes are hideous and mumsy. The mini boden is too babyish for my 8 year old (I know, I know) and the Johnny B is too expensive, even in the sale, which has nothing left in XS anyway.

Dh wouldn't be seen dead in the stuff, and my tomboy dd2 likes the boy stuff but again, the discounts are cr*p anyway.

I steer well clear and go to H&M, whose prices and fashions are much more realistic for us!

I just ordered a Boden dress for £45, reduced from £149 (tis a posh frock) and a cardigan for £17, reduced from £55. Those are fairly decent discounts in my book (and no, I would never pay full-price).

I've had some lovely stuff from Boden in the past, and some absolutely heinous items which have gone straight back. But that applies to pretty much any shop.

TheNightWatch · 17/07/2012 20:10

Some of the sale stuff has been around for two years, especially in the children's section and, it hasn't even come down.

Yes, I'm an H and M convert to. I think Boden girlswear looks frumpy a lot of the time. Suitable for very little girls. I agree about cost of sales too. I think there is much more aggressive discounting earlier on than there used to be, which is why the sales are more expensive.

the whole Boden thing makes me want to vomit.

dd loves h&m, she likes being able to choose an outfit and know that i will buy the whole thing (probably change from £20 for a packet of hair clips too), am dreading it when she outgrows the age 7-8 though as the 9+ range is a lot more grown up.
