I thought the Shred was a killer until I tried...

The Tracey Anderson Mat Workout.

OMFG

It really hurts. And she pouts and poses a little too much. But I think this could be the one :)

ihatethecold · 16/07/2012 11:06

the one to what?

kill you Grin

ujjayi · 16/07/2012 11:11

Yes! Quite possibly!

No, what i meant was that I get so bored with workout dvds so end up doing them a few times and lose interest. I go on holiday a month today so am in serious "bikini body" mode. I'm hoping Tracey and her method is going to transition my cottage cheese thighs and ass into a vision of hotness.... :o

I tried that, isn't she irritating? I felt like a big lumbering elephant whilst she swayed rythmically.
Hurts your arms and legs.

ujjayi · 16/07/2012 11:37

oh yes - definitely felt the lumbering elephant feeling!

My arms in particular were burning. Do you still do it, Lizzylou?

It's the standing abs one that gets me. I'm not totally sure what I'm meant to be doing so I just gyrate manically and hope for the best. It's not my finest look. Tracy irritates me far too much to do the workouts regularly though.

coffeeinbed · 16/07/2012 12:35

it's brilliant, isn't it.
Try the bum and thighs webisode on YouTube, it's a will kill you, great for legs, bum and muffin top.

lauratheexplorer · 16/07/2012 12:39

They are all nothing compared to Bechbody's Insanity workout. I only made it through ten minutes of the fit test!

ujjayi · 16/07/2012 12:53

winefairy you have just made me spit tea all over the keyboard! I was exactly the same - felt like a right plonker wiggling around like a Bill & Ben wannabe!!

coffeeinbed - eeek! Will definitely seek that out.

@laura@ - off to google your recommendation.

there you go: www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/insanity.do
Now that's workout.

MorrisZapp · 16/07/2012 16:16

Body Attack, at the gym.

No home workout will push you so hard.

Hopefully · 16/07/2012 16:17

Insanity is truly, well, insanity Grin

I love it, nothing else gets results like it, because it pushes you incredibly hard.

Lizzylou · 16/07/2012 16:22

ujjayi , I don't anymore, I haven't the time now I am at work FT. So am shredding, running and cycling. Need more cardio than Tracey's balletic poses can give me.

That Insanity thing is always on infomercials, are you completely ripped like the people they show, Hopefully? Do you have the T-shirt?

Agree about standing abs!

Hopefully · 16/07/2012 16:39

No t-shirt yet lizzy - incident involving my toe, a kitchen knife and trip to a&e prevented completion of month two. Will restart at the end of the summer. Did manage to drop almost 2 full dress sizes and tone up a shitload in about 7 weeks though.

Lizzylou · 16/07/2012 16:53

Ouch!
Insanity does look ridiculously difficult, did you do it every day to get such great results?
Do you need a lot of room to do it?

ujjayi · 16/07/2012 17:30

Whoa!! Ok that insanity workout looks way too scary! I think I will stick with pouting Ms Anderson!

I don't want to lose weight I just want to tone. I run a couple of times a week and walk the dog at a fast pace for 40 minutes a day. I have the most god awful cellulite despite being a size 8 :(.

ujjayi Grin

Friend passed a copy of Insanity on to me and I haven't even plucked up the courage to watch it yet. I'm quite intimidated. On the plus side I bet there's very little pouting and preening going on.

Can manage Shred fairly adequately (although will always detest Level 2) so feel that Insanity is the natural next step although for some reason it terrifies me. Not least because every time I contemplate it I get a little voice in my head singing Insanity to the tune of Insania which spoils the mood somewhat!

May have to embrace my inner stripper and give Tracy a second chance.

winefairy · 16/07/2012 17:40

And hear you on the cellulite. Size 10 but I look like cottage cheese poured into a wet suit. A shame because I'm such a stunner aside from that Wink

scripsi · 16/07/2012 19:18

Am thinking of getting Insanity: any idea where the cheapest place would be to get it?

Hopefully · 16/07/2012 19:36

I can promise that Insanity is absolutely pout/preen free Grin. I did it 6 days a week, as recommended, and I really did push myself. I hurt for the first week.

It is 'proper' exercise though - a big big leap from Shred (although lots more cardio rather than as much weight training. Lots of own-body-weight training though, which was enough to have me in a quivering pile on the floor, and i can do Shred with 3kg weights). You need to make sure you are eating properly, especially getting enough protein. If you don't you just physically won't get through the workouts, especially month two - the fatigue thing really kicks in after about 40 mins, and you need a shitload of willpower to get through the last bit.

Hopefully · 16/07/2012 19:36

scripsi you can get it on eBay, not loads cheaper, but you can sell it on there again afterwards too.

scripsi · 16/07/2012 19:38

Thanks Hopefully, right, I am going to get busy on ebay. Do you need a lot of space to move about (eyes DH's spacewasting crosstrainer ...)

winefairy · 16/07/2012 20:04

Hopefully Thanks. Confirmed my worst fears! Grin I shall give it a go though as hate to be too defeatist!

Are you pleased with the results? Have you noticed changes compared with the Shred? (in awe of 3kg Shred weights btw. I was secretly smug with 1.5kg, fool that I am!)

ujjayi · 16/07/2012 20:58
OP posts:
Hopefully · 17/07/2012 05:47

You don't need more space than you do for Shred. There is one move that requires you to move sideways a couple of steps, but I achieve it by having the sitting room door open and stepping into the hallway and back! We have the tiniest sitting room ever.

Results have been amazing. I was watching my diet too, but still eating a good 1,800+ calories a day. You can't do a starvation diet and do it, you just won't have the energy. I didn't lose much weight on the scales, but I did drop genuinely almost two dress sizes, and I look so much better. I don't look remotely scarily ripped or anything, but I have slight muscle definition and much less wobbling. And a really flat stomach, despite 2 DCs, including a CS (well, I did have a flat stomach, before knife-gate made me sit still for over a week...)

Lizzylou · 17/07/2012 07:23

Hmm, perhaps insanity could be my winter workout. Or I could just buy baggy jumpers!
I went to zumba last night, easy, probably ineffectual but such good fun.
Worried that if I bought insanity I'd get put off by how hard it was and it would linger on a shelf gathering dust. I do need more than salsa sashaying round a sports hall though!
