Am going away for a rare child-free night with DH next weekend and was planning to wear this for dinner in the evening. No idea what to wear with it. I have black heels and a black clutch bag, but am not sure they go. Any ideas much appreciated.

Thanks, Happy. Can't believe I did that Blush.

We all do it Toffee Smile

I really love that dress Grin Black would be ok (black and navy is verryyy Parisienne Wink ) but personally I'd opt for some nude killer heels and a navy, nude or cream bag.

PerryCombover · 15/07/2012 17:18

What about what they show it with? Looks good to me
Or do you have a (ubiquitous but useful) man's style black jacket?

ToffeeWhirl · 15/07/2012 17:19

Glad you like it Smile. I wore it on New Year's Eve with black heels and a black bag - didn't know I was being Parisienne Wink. I'd like to go for a different look this time, so I could look into nude accessories, but I don't want to look like I'm modelling my look on Kate Middleton. I do have some red heels that I love - would red accessories go with it too?

Perry - I love that coat, but I haven't even bothered to look it up as I know it will be out of my price range. I suspect the shoes probably are too, but I could look for similar, I suppose...

No, I don't have a black jacket. I do have a blue velvet one, but I'm not sure it would go. It's more casual, jeanswear.

Oh god no, not Kate Middleton, hotter than that like these if you can do really high.. Not sure what your style is or if you like platforms.. Red would be ok but I'm not a huge fan of red/navy combo...

HappyGirlNow · 15/07/2012 17:26

Beautiful bag and shoes..

ToffeeWhirl · 15/07/2012 17:28

That's my price range! I like heels, but can't cope with them that high. I'll have a look for similar. Thank you so much. Have to go and cook now - this is far more interesting - but will be back later.

What is wrong with red/navy combo? When I suggested it to a friend at New Year, she was against it too, but I don't know why. Am I committing a fashion faux pas Confused?

OP posts:
HappyGirlNow · 15/07/2012 17:33

No, def not a faux pas, just personal taste. I just find it a bit cliche, a bit nautical and I think colours that complement more / clash less are classier and more sophisticated...

ToffeeWhirl · 15/07/2012 17:34

Those are nice, Happy. I do love anything sparkly. Not sure about the peep toes, though. I couldn't wear tights then, could I? Am feeling self conscious about my legs these days if I go bare legged (they are slim, but I have some veins on them. Could use concealer, I suppose Hmm).

OP posts:
HappyGirlNow · 15/07/2012 17:35

Ps bear in mind that they won't feel as high as they look due to platform..

ToffeeWhirl · 15/07/2012 17:35

Ah, OK. I definitely want to go for the classy, sophisticated look...

Right, am going to throw some food together and then pop back in a min.

I like tights and peep-ties but only black and coloured tights (funky).. You'll be able to get closed toe nude shoes no probs, I'll have a look Wink

HappyGirlNow · 15/07/2012 17:48

Oh, and gold or bronze shoes would look amazing too!

HappyGirlNow · 15/07/2012 17:55

Here and here and here

ToffeeWhirl · 15/07/2012 23:15

Thanks for all those links, Happy. I am struggling not to like the M&S shoes as I tend not to like their stuff and it's threatening to find that I quite like these, albeit in a 'safe' way Confused. I really like those Next glittery gold shoes and the Lipsey ones, but am not sure if they fit the 'classy, sophisticated' look... Also, I will probably fall off the latter pair Wink. Am tempted though.

You have given me some great ideas. Thank you so much.
