Hi all

Well I know peole have worse dilemas, but this is driving me mad!

I try, on average, about 4 pairs of jeans in a month still hoping that i'll find the perfect pair, but with no successSad

Like I say, i'm high waisted, so I have no thighs, but have hips(size 10-12), but I have a very small bum which is more like a size 6-8. I have long skinny legs, but can't get away with skinny jeans because I look unbalanced and too top heavy cos I've got quite broad shoulders. Also, I get the hidious camel toe and the less mortifiying muffin topBlush I'm not overweight, but my shape seems to be a very awkward one to dress.

I've got one pair of jeans which i'm happy in(no camel toe!), but they've stopped making them and they're starting to get worn and tatty. I don't really look right in skirts either so i'm really stuck.

Has anyone got a similar figure and can give me some advice on what to wear. I don't want to give up jeans because they're so versatile and comfortable, but on the other hand, I don't want to look crap either!!

TIA

Next do a high waisted boot cut fit that might fit nicely? I got a pair at the weekend, loved the high waist as it stopped a muffin top developing and I also have a smallish bum.

I may have the specs, only wear 7FAM jeans. The only skinnies that fit me to a T are MiH (Oslo and Vienna).

M&S 5 pocket Jeggings are cut with skinny legs and generous waist.

Karen millen had high waisted jeans in the sale. I think they were boot cut.

I'd be tempted to find a good tailor who does alterations and get them to sort it out for me, they are very good at things like that.

These might suit you Paige Hidden Hills High Rise Straight Jean

High waisted and straight legged to balance out your shoulders. They are very stretchy so you could size down for a better fit on your skinny areas, but your hips would still be accommodated.

Expensive but worth it if they give a good fit. As a bonus you can wear them for days without washing - they don't bag like high street jeans.

Thanks everyone! Mystery, they look great, but yes they are expensive. I recently spent £100 on Salsa jeans, which apparently are 'magic' jeans. For the first couple of days I thought they looked really nice, but after it was too late to return, I realised they were nothing special and if anything, were too high waisted, so all the excess fatBlush kind of just gets pushed up and if anything is more unflattering than the usual muffin top.............especially when you sit down. So it was back to the drawing board. I might give these ones a try though. They look lovely, but they are on a model who probably doesn't have any proportion issuesGrin

Lady, would have never thought of Topshop for jeans!! When I was a teenager I used to make myself wear them cos nobody(friends anyway) seemed to shop anywhere else!!! I might give them another go though if they've got a better selection now, ie NOT designed purely for skinny minnies.

Has anyone tried Zara for jeans/trousers? I heard they do some decent high waisted trousers, but that was a while ago.

Having said that though, if i'm high waisted are high waisted trousers really the answerHmm Or is that actually making the problem worse?

have you tried the asda great bum jeans?. they are quite deep rather than hipster, and really do help at the rear.

causeforanamechange · 15/07/2012 20:53

Thanks daenery. When you say help at the rear, do you mean make it appear bigger?.............That would be brilliant!

Highwaisted is not a flattering look on me (short torso). It also brings back memories of those horrific early 1990s "mom waist" jeans midwais is a good compromise on me.

Recently bought a pair of emerald Zara cigarette trousers. Love them, fit me perfectly. Had to size up and get a 40 (I'm normally 38). Again, worth trying on.

causeforanamechange · 15/07/2012 21:44

Ooooo, I like the sound of those. I recently tried on a pair of skinny emerald and coral jeans from Dorothy Perkins, but they looked hidious on me!! Are Cigarette style different to skinny? When you say you have a short torso dona, is that the same as a high waist?

they lift and make it more shapely. so many skinny or straight leg jeans sit on the hip, these sit more on the waist.
