Matching your bag to your shoes?

Hello ladies

I'm a lurker on here but wondered if you lovely people could help settle a dispute!
Is matching your bag and shoes considered slightly 'twee' now? I say yes and my mum says no, so I put it to the mn jury :)

Yes. Buuuut, I've just bought a plum/purple dress for a wedding and got tan shoes. I tried the ensemble with a few different coloured bags but the one that made the outfit sort of 'gel' was the bag that just about matched the shoes. So I think I'm going to look for a matching coloured bag even though I know it's supposed to be iffy.

usually yes, but I think black courts and bag are classic and go with nearly everything.
