OK - have M&S trousers all gone funny in sizing or has my shape changed dramatically?

I've always been able to rely on getting trousers from M&S in size 12. Went in today to try and get some cropped trousers for holidays and was horrified to find that of the 2 styles I tried the 12's would barely fasten and even the 14's were snug. I couldn't bring myself to try any more.

I will admit to having put on 4 lb since last summer, but although my older cropped trews (and other trousers, all size 12s) are a bit tighter than they might have been in the past, they still fit. Even so, 4lb shouldn't lead to having to go up 2 sizes should it?

Is is just me or have M&S changed their sizing?? Now I'm at a loss about where to try as I have a small waist but bigger hips and thighs so getting trousers to fit is always a struggle.

Me too!

I've found it with their skirts too, big waistband but tight on the hips. Weirdly I am down a size in their linen trousers and have to get short even though I'm 5ft 6!!!!

It must be a recent thing because I have always found that M & S sizes are on the large side. I do find, however, that they cater more for apple shapes. And, as a pear I find the waists gape horribly on most of their skirts and trousers.
