Question for hairdressers...

I get my highlights done at my local salon. It's due to be done again and for various childcare reasons, it would be easier to get it done whilst I'm visiting family next week, in a different town.

My question is: is hair dye standard across hairdressing? In other words, can I ask my hairdresser to give me the details of the colour they use to give to family hairdresser to ensure the colour matches.

I hope that makes sense!

It depends what brand the salon uses (Wella, Schwarzkopf, Clynol etc). If its the same as your present salon then great, get your stylist to write the numbers down for you. Otherwise ask for the numbers so they at least know the exact base to apply ( the numbers after the first number are unique to the brand). I must say though any stylist worth their salt will call you in for a skin test 48 hours prior to your appointment. Will you be there then? IMHO if I like the way my hair is coloured at a particular salon I wouldn't go elsewhere unless you can forgive any slight variations that may occur.

Thank you so much for your help. Maybe you're right, I should just wait until I can go to my normal salon. Food for thought, thanks again!
