I've bought the silk floral prom dress from pepperberry (on my phone so can't link ) its a beige colour with brown and coral flowers. That sounds crap but its lovely!
I am going to an old uni friends wedding. Haven't seen them for 5yrs. Lost lots of weight but really want to look my best.
So, accesories I need are shoes, a cardigan?, bag and something for my head. I don't want to spend loads as the dress was expensive. I was thinking that I have brown wedge sandals so could wear those, a coral cardy. Brown bag? Is this far to many colours??
Can I wear a vintage hair clip rather than hat/fascinaor? I have a big head so thought this would be best.
Lastly, dh is same height as me bare footed. Should I go for heels and be taller than hin?dh says yes!
I'm a faffy mess, please help !

Why do you need something for your head?

waitingtobeamummy · 30/06/2012 23:18

It's an all day wedding and wouldn't want to wear my hair just straight and down. So was going to go for a clip. Thought head items (?) Where the done thing for weddings, but if they are not, I am happier!

How about a wrap instead of a cardigan, in coral? I'm wondering if brown sandals will be a bit heavy for a silk dress, IF you can afford it how try metallic shoes in bronze/pewter and a bag to match ( you'd only need a tiny one for effect and a tissue)!

I'll leave the head thing to someone else. Have a nice day.

waitingtobeamummy · 30/06/2012 23:40

Like the sound of a wrap! Thank yoy! They are a tan colour with very thin straps and a wedge of wood. Does that make any difference?will look at metallic thank you.

OP posts:
Anste · 30/06/2012 23:50

I think as long as they are a bit delicate looking (wedge is fine) and the tone of your dress they will be right.

waitingtobeamummy · 01/07/2012 08:44

They are very dainty. So do I go for brown shoes and bag and coral cardy/wrap? That's nor too many colours?

I think a cream wrap and nude shoes/bag would work best as just googled the dress and the coral could be hard to match up. I think if your shoes are tan then that would also work ok but a tan clutch bag might not.
Other option is to go with Metallics I think bronze would work with that.

Lovely dress, had never heard of that brand.

waitingtobeamummy · 01/07/2012 09:23

Thanks northern, if I did go for my shoes and a cream cardy, what bag would you reccomend?
They do really lovely clothes for big boobs (and their owners obviously) first dress I've ever got that perfectly fits

I would try dotty p's or new look for a cheap cream or nude colour clutch. Dotty p's have a nude one for £10.
I don't think I have ever seen a tan clutch I think tan is for either casual or business bags.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 01/07/2012 21:29

we're talking about this dress, right? I love it!

Your shoes sound just fine, lovely in fact. Agree about not having a tan bag though.

A wrap would be much better than a cardigan, would just spoil the line of the dress. this (or a similar colour) would be just lovely with it, tones with the dress very nicely but doesn't match (so can't fail to match, IYSWIM). A cream bag could work nicely - this? - and a cream flower in your hair. This sort of thing.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 01/07/2012 21:32

A shell pink bag could be good, depends on the exact shades in the dress - this?

waitingtobeamummy · 01/07/2012 23:04

Yes that's my dress! I tried it on again today as I love it so much :). Tried the shoes on too and unfortunately dh looks like a midget next to me, so I need new shoes too. This changes things lots! So do I go for nude shoes and bag? I love the Dorothy Perkins one tho. How many colours can I wear? I love the flower for my hair too. So simple and lovely. Link to wrap didn't work but I'm going to look for some. Thank you all for your help x

The scarf I failed to link to was from Mango - 'Bamboo fiber foulard' in the colour 'Toasted'.

NO matching shoes to bag. Not allowed Wink. How about gold sandals, nude courts, nude patent sling backs or nude/gold sandals? I'd go with one of the pairs of sandals if I were you, the newlook ones I suspect.

Bag wise, the cream DP one would be good. Not the shell pink with nude or gold shoes though. Will have a rummage for other options.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 02/07/2012 08:31

mmm, was wanting to link to another couple of paleish-and-browny-but-still-warm-toned scarves for you but I'm not finding any. No others at all. All too cool toned. Hmm. There must be more out there but the mango one is very good and bamboo is a lovely fabric to wear.

this looks like it might be a true match for one of the darker browns in the dress. But even if it is I don't think that'd look right.

A cream shawl is doable but it'd be a shame IMHO.

waitingtobeamummy · 02/07/2012 19:45

Thank you so much pro I love the new look kittenheels. Think I am going to try those as I could happily wear those with other things too. I know I'm repeating myself but. If I have a cream bag, a slightly different coloured bag, gold shoes. Will I look ok? Not too bitty? The unmatching shoes/bag was a revelation so I need reassaurance! :)

Well I'm not sure what the shortlist was Blush I think you were looking at

the fabulous dress
shawl
shoes
bag
hair corsage
(and a coral shade for manicure / pedicure)

Is that right Confused

waitingtobeamummy · 02/07/2012 20:08

Yes yes yes that's it! And they will all go well together? Thank you so much!

OP posts:
ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 02/07/2012 20:21

Hell yes!

waitingtobeamummy · 02/07/2012 20:24

Yaaaaaaaaay! I am so excited!5 dress sizes smaller and not looking like a knobber- result! Thank you!

OP posts:
ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 02/07/2012 20:29

You will categorically NOT look like a knobber. No. You will look fucking fantastic!

Getting the right nail colour might take a bit of trawling the shops but it's well worth it. It doesn't have to be the same as the coral shade in the dress, as long as it tones with it. Like she shawl does with the browns in the dress IYSWIM.

waitingtobeamummy · 02/07/2012 20:39

You are a star thank you! So I'm going for the tone range, I get it! I've got my list now and 4wks to get them, and that gives me another pay day too. Fab!
