Covering a cork wedge heel - ideas?

So I've decided on my shoes for the big w-day here because they're the right colour, height, style and material, APART FROM THE CORK.

I'm not offended by cork wedges as a rule, but I feel they're just not special enough for this.

I thought I could maybe apply flat-back pearls like this or perhaps stick on some leather (or get a cobbler to) , but I don't know where I'd get nice leather in that small quantity - any ideas? Faux would be fine. A pewter snake effect would be immense.

Either that or paint them - any sugestions please?

Oh, and this is the dress & this is the inspiration, btw...

We're having a marquee in a field on a working dairy farm in May, so I'm erring toward wedge and away from satin. I haven't ruled out dying these though as suggested to me by another kind MNtter.

I reckon I'm more likely to end up wearing my Back Up Option anyway Grin

Oh, now I understand why you wanted to wear wedges!
