What are you on the bottom?? I have been looking at bikinis on ebay, and they all come with size 16/18 bottoms. I am 10/12, but why is my chest size so out of proportion?

Are you sure you are a 36 back?

whenyouseeitwaveorcheer · 27/06/2012 17:47

I'm 36D in some places and 36DD in others.

I'm a 12 most places, sometimes a 10. I struggle with the zips on some dresses and tops though as I have a freakishly broad ribcage Hmm

Caerlaverock · 27/06/2012 17:47

I have the opposite problem btw. I am a 30 e and all 30e swimsuits are for teeny tiny bottoms

Caerlaverock · 27/06/2012 17:48

Can you not buy tops and bottoms separately? That's what I do

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 27/06/2012 17:49

Try figleaves, they do separates.

I think I must just be broad - watching wimbledon, I am a similar build to some the women (not quite as toned unfortunately)

OP posts:
Swatchdog · 27/06/2012 17:54

You may be broad but it's unlikely a 36 back sized woman would have a size 10/12 bottom half. Are you sure you're wearing the right back size? Are you 36 inches around your ribcage?

goodtimesarecoming · 27/06/2012 17:57

According to measuring guides, you measure under (31") and add 5 if it's odd. I've tried 34" and I couldnt breathe

OP posts:
Swatchdog · 27/06/2012 17:58

No, that's old measuring guides. Now you measure underneath and that's your number. If you're 31 underbust you should be wearing a 32 max. Do you have a local bravissimo or Rigby & Peller? Get down there and get measured!

Magneto · 27/06/2012 17:59

Have you been measured as a 36dd? I thought i was a 34dd until I got measured and discovered I was a 28F! Trying on my old bras now I can't believe I ever thought they fitted me!

goodtimesarecoming · 27/06/2012 18:03

I've just had another measure, 30" under bust. I have a few 34's and 32's and i cannot even do them up. 36 dd's fit really well, look right like you see on tv shows about the topic, so now i am confused.

OP posts:
goodtimesarecoming · 27/06/2012 18:03

I am 30 under, 38 over so what should i be?

OP posts:
minceorotherwise · 27/06/2012 18:05

If you go on fig leaves.com or similar you can buy diff sizes. So whatever size bust and whatever different size bottoms, also 50% off at the moment on some stuff
I've been on there today as have same prob

Swatchdog · 27/06/2012 18:09

If you're 30 under I'll bet you're a 30 back size, and you'll probably be around a G cup, but please go and see a specialist (not M&S or Debenhams) to get fitted and try on lots of different styles to find what suits you. 36DDs will probably ride up on your back and thus not support you properly.

goodtimesarecoming · 27/06/2012 18:11

Magneto, could you get the 28" round you? I have some 32", and they will no where near stretch around me! i can't imagine a 30" bra, i just don't see how it would do up

OP posts:
Magneto · 27/06/2012 18:23

I can get them round me on the loosest setting and the 30inch bras feel too loose on the tightest setting but some of the bras I have do feel like I'm wearing a corset.

I was only measured a couple of months ago and am pretty skint so I can't buy loads to try until I find a brand or style I like but I have bought a Panache sports bra and it's fab. It's pretty much the only bra I wear now as my others still don't feel quite supportive enough.

whenyouseeitwaveorcheer · 27/06/2012 19:10

"You may be broad but it's unlikely a 36 back sized woman would have a size 10/12 bottom half."

I do! Honest! I was in a 40 back when pregnant and my ribcage expanded even more and was prob only a 14 when pregnant.

LandenParkeLaine · 28/06/2012 19:06

I wear a 36DD but am around a size 10/12, my Mum is also a 36DD and is a 14/16. I've had my suspicions that I needed to get re-measured but there's no where near where I am that I trust to go a good job (M&S or Debenhams). Think I'll be buying myself a tape measure and trying to figure it out myself. Can anyone advise me how do you work out your cup size?

LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 28/06/2012 19:08

seriously, go to Bravissimo, it's a revelation.

HazleNutt · 28/06/2012 20:16

underbust measurement is your bra size. Difference in inches between underbust and over bust measurements will give you a cup size, one size per inch.

Say you measure 30 under and 36 over, that's A, B, C, D, DD, E - you should try 30E. This is by no means accurate, you could also be 30DD or 30F or 28F or 32DD and other similar sizes, but gives you an idea where to start.

CockBollocks · 28/06/2012 20:18

If you are going from a 36 down to a 34 then you need to go up a cup size otherwise your wouldnt be able to do it up - does that make sense?

I was wearing 36DD but have been measured and i'm now a 34E.

Def get yourself measured & have a look on figleaves & asos, alot of mix & match bikinis.

shoppingbagsundereyes · 28/06/2012 20:23

I'm a 36d and a size 14 on the bottom. I like m and s bikinis as you can choose a bra size for the top and a dress size for the bottom

morethanyoubargainfor · 28/06/2012 20:29

I am a 36 (and yes I am sure) GG and a size 14 so I feel your pain. I have just ordered a bikini from panache, it is fab. Order them as separates. Good luck.

WetAugust · 28/06/2012 20:52

I'm 36DD - definitely.

But size 12 in the bottom.

And hardly any waist!

When I diet I go down to size 10 bottom and do gain a waist - but still 36C top
