Cost per wear, what is your best value purchase?

Mine is my Mothercare drawstring waist black maternity joggers, £12 new and worn virtually every day, pregnant or not, for 6 years! And my Uggs. Everyday for 3 winters and now as slippers.
And my Next Boyfriend jeans, worn every time for at-home-with kids days. Far better value than my expensive J Brand going-out jeans...since I never go out!

Just trying to work out what it is worth spending money on.. "lounge"wear and comfy jeans I think?

Wrote a long answer and MN crashed on me!

In brief:

Vivienne Westwood black jersey dress - cost 100 pounds and have worn at least once a fortnight for almost two years.

Oasis biker jacket - also 100 pounds and have worn almost every day since I bought it in January.

Red American Eagle hoodie bought in Boston on honeymoon 8 years ago. I've worn it through autumn and winter ever since. Not every day, obviously, but it's warm enough to wear as an extra layer in autumn and early spring but lightweight enough to wear under a coat in winter.

Cinderariel · 24/06/2012 21:42

Well, Remus. I think you just need to keep buying things that cost £100. Grin

Accessories or pyjamas/loungewear for me.

Navy patent Boden bag - used for 2 years, still looks new, fit flop Mukluks - 3 winters now.

And weirdly a pair of Next leggings, washed every week - had them 4 years, cost £16. Tried to buy more this year, all next current leggings are utter shit and I had a hole in them the first time I wore them.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 24/06/2012 22:34

Longchamp shopper, cost £72, use it 4 days a week for all work things, that's 34p per use in the first year - bargain!

TequilaMockinBird · 24/06/2012 22:36

Ugg boots, bought 4 years ago, worn nearly every day in winter and still look like new.

TheCraicDealer · 24/06/2012 22:43

Probably my uggs as well- bought 2007, worn for 5 winters and now kept at boyfriend's house as slippers. He also brings them with him in the car when he's collecting me from nights out to save my poor feet!

My first real leather handbag that my grandma bought me for my birthday when I started working after university. It cost £80. That was 13 years ago, and it is still in good condition and a brilliant bag. Grandma died 5 years ago, and it makes me smile every time I use it.

A Pure Collection cashmere/lambswool cardicoat that I bought 4 years ago. Cost was about £160 I think, cost per wear must be about 15 pence by now!
Unfortunately it is now very much too big for me because I have lost a lot of weight, so I now use it for loungewear in the winter.

Jigsaw winter coat, £290, about 10 years old and timeless. And at the other end of the scale £6 TU Breton style top that washes and wears brilliantly.

Zara leather jacket bought 12 years ago for £100, worn at least 3x per week ever since. What's that, 5p per wear?

Havaianas flip flops. Bought in Greece 9 years ago for 12 euros and worn every day May-September since.

AmberNectarine · 25/06/2012 08:17

Calvin Klein denim jacket. Bought in an outlet in LA, ooh, 10 years ago now and still going strong (if looking a bit 'distressed')

notjustamummythankyou · 25/06/2012 08:39

Gap trenchcoat - bought 8 years ago in the sale for 9.99. Still looks good but sadly looking a little faded now. Sob.

NewChoos · 25/06/2012 08:52

Several french connection day dresses wear for work a lot!

whitelillies · 25/06/2012 09:33

Sass and bide jeans and Mih jeans - boughten years ago - worn regularly since
My leather biker jacket - bought for 100 £ but worn almost daily for the last 3 years ! Still going strong
My mulberry tote - bought in sale -3 years ago - used daily for a few months at a time and I still love it! ( I just 'rest' it every so often )

ENormaSnob · 25/06/2012 12:24

Black leather bomber style jacket from top shop. Bought in 07 and worn millions of times.

Wool dress from monsoon is one of my winter staples.

Leather riding boots from next are never off my feet.

Just bought navy converse and a stripy jersey jacket from dp, suspect these will get lots of wear too.

AnnaRack · 25/06/2012 13:42

My Clarks Susie clogs, bought in sale last summer, cost £23, worn them every day throughout the summer. I can walk miles in them, they go with everything, love love love them. Wish I'd bought them in every colour. Will miss them when they wear out Sad

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/06/2012 18:01

Looks like biker jackets are generally a good investment!

Will add my trenchcoat too: it was 8 pounds in the M&S (Autograph) sale two years ago.

GraduallyGoingInsane · 25/06/2012 20:49

Ugg boots - bought 3 years ago (in a Kids shop, so only £75! Hooray for small feet!). Worn every winter, every day. Still looking like new.

Alternatively, I have a fleece I got in the sale for £2 at Asda. It's a mens fleece, but I wear it loads in the house when I'm freezing (aka most of the time, old house with rubbish heating). Bought it maybe 5 years ago. Still going strong!
