What do you think of this dress?

I've worn it once some time back, having a clear out today and tried it on, and actually felt I looked quite good - but is it suitable for a wedding?

It's a wedding abroad.

What I suppose I'm asking is, is it horrid? Blush

All I'm seeing in the shops is maxi dresses or ones that are too short for a wedding, this is a good length on me.

Can we see it?

NewDog · 23/06/2012 19:33

Sorry, it's in my profile :)

It's very pretty, fine for a wedding as long as you have a shawl or a shrug over it.

goodygumdrops · 23/06/2012 19:38

I think it would be nice for a wedding.

NewDog · 23/06/2012 19:38

Oooh thank you Belgo. It comes with a scarf with the same flowers on, or I've got a shrug and some pashminas that might go with it as well.

It's not too, ummmm, not in fashion?

To me it feels classy and not too revealing, but don't want to look out of place. The dress is about four years old, you see.

Yep with something to cover up like a shrug will be lovely

NewDog · 23/06/2012 19:40

Also it's mainly black - wedding is in Greece, is that a real no-no?

OP posts:
belgo · 23/06/2012 19:41

as long as you don't wear a black pashmina with it, go for red instead, it will be fine.

coffeewhitenosugar · 23/06/2012 19:44

I think it's lovely too, it's not 'strikingly' black because of the pink flowers and would look lovely with a pink shrug.

dexter73 · 23/06/2012 19:44

It's really pretty!

thenightsky · 23/06/2012 19:58

It's lovely!

NewDog · 23/06/2012 20:01

Thank you so much, I feel so much better :) Now I've just got to stress about keeping the weight off so I can still fit into it!

Sooooo, can you help me find some shoes please Grin

I think it is pretty, but i definitly think you shouldn't wear the matching wrap thing, go for a pashmina.

Is it a beach wedding?

Cause would be a nightmare on sand!!

If its beach, some black sparkly/blingy flip flops or sandals if its not on sand, some nice black heels would be fine.

NewDog · 23/06/2012 20:33

I've got a red pashmina, so might go for that. Maybe the scarf (it's very thin net with the red flowers on) for the evening?

The wedding's not on the beach (phew!), so I'm looking for some nice heels. But want something, well, fashionable - I don't want it to look like a dress I've had in my wardrobe for years and thought some nice heels would help:)

Haven't a clue :(

Like it! Fine for a wedding, definitely. I'd avoid the matching scarf though, that could make it look a bit dated. Is the detailing red or hot pink? it's hard to make out.

Oh, and there are dresses about like you want, if you fancy a change.

Anyway, shoe wise, what sort of heel height do you like? Oh, and your size - 'cause of the sales.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 23/06/2012 20:54

red, you already said. sorry.

NewDog · 23/06/2012 21:35

Thanks :) Yes, it's red.

I just hate shopping for clothes. I could spend what I wanted on a dress, but I just can't seem to ever find anything I like, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found this by accident today :)

Any alternatives gratefully received though - I'm 5ft7, size 14, good legs, smallish bust.

Shoes size 7 or 8, usually an 8. Wouldn't want an uber-high heel though, as I think I'll be on my feet all day at the wedding. TIA :)
