Is this dress ok for a wedding?

I'm rubbish at dressing up and need your help. Is this ok for a church wedding? Or is it a bit too clingy? It fits really well but I'm not sure whether it's the right type of dress for a wedding, what do you think?

No, not too clingy, quite beautiful I think :)

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 22/06/2012 20:13

Perfect for a wedding I'd say! Are you sorted for accessories?

hefner · 22/06/2012 20:27

No! I need help with that too. I will need some sort of shrug type thing, a bag and shoes - a heel would be good but not too high. Maybe something to go in my hair? I'm not brave enough to wear a hat though.

I love it, I'd go for red accessories!

yeah its fine for a church wedding maybe not clingy or revealing enough for some catholic weddings I've been to

thenightsky · 22/06/2012 20:32

Ooooh. I've got a very similar one, almost identical actually. It makes me feel curvy and sexy.

I got a long sleeved black shrug - long over the hands almost with ruching. I wear with black suede high heels and opaque tights.

I always get compliments.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 22/06/2012 20:33

What sort of budget are you on?

Coral is always good with navy, red too of course.

hefner · 22/06/2012 21:28

Is your dress navy too thenightsky? I have black accessories but wasn't sure if they would go.

My budget is up to about £150 for all accessories. I agree that red looks good with navy but I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable in red shoes, I usually aim to blend in as much as possible.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 22/06/2012 21:50

this is a sweet little jacket, this too, like this best but only left in a 14. Would you consider a cream pashmina instead also better for hiding in if your shy?

Shoe and bag wise, how about navy shoes or sandals and a not-too-bright coral, soft rusty orange, actual orange or soft lemon yellow clutch?

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 22/06/2012 21:57

Hang on, your profile says your 29! No way should you be wearing navy coast sandals Shock

thenightsky · 22/06/2012 22:04

No, mine is black and white. I obviously didn't look closely enough at your link hefner Blush

hefner · 22/06/2012 22:10

Thanks for the suggestions procrastination. I'll have a better look at the links tomorrow - on my phone now so I can't see properly. Pashmina could be difficult as I'll be carrying DD and she'll pull it off! Cream doesn't usually suit me, often looks a bit washed out. If cream doesn't work what else could I try? If I wore a navy shrug/jacket would navy shoes look too matchy? I like the lemon and rusty bags.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 22/06/2012 22:13

Ok, well, feel free to tell me to bugger off, but I think you might end up looking a bit frumpy in the (lovely) phase8 dress if you're shy. Not a good way to blend in Wink

What do you think to this grey dress from Zara? gold sandals and a bargain shell pink bag? Waaaay off? Obviously I've no idea of your size, shape, height or colouring. Hope you see what I'm getting at anyway...

thenightsky · 22/06/2012 22:15

That Zara dress is gorgeous. I wish I could wear above knee dresses Sad

Sadly I am old and so have croissant knees.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 22/06/2012 22:16

x posts - a navy cover-up would work, theoretically, yeah. Finding one and matching the colour would be a right PITA though, there sin't much navy about ATM at all and decent coverups are always thin on the ground.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 22/06/2012 22:18

thenightsky if your under, say, 5'5 then you can be pretty sure it'd cover your knees. I wish they'd give either the models height of the dress measurement. Hardly anywhere does. Fools.

hefner · 22/06/2012 22:27

I like the Zara dress but couldn't wear it because the back would show my bra. Like the bag and can't see the sandals link on my phone. I have real problems finding dresses that fit so I'm tempted to stick with the phase 8 one. I probably would end up looking frumpy left to my own devices so I'd be grateful for any suggestions of non frumpy accessories. I'm short, size 10 hourglass shape and pale with mid brown hair.

OP posts:
thenightsky · 22/06/2012 22:29

Procrastination I'm 5ft 8in... nothing on the high street covers my croissant knees.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 22/06/2012 22:43

This is another wonderful grey dress it'd definitely take a strapless or clear strapped bra. Would be mature and elegant without the frump-attack danger. It's pricey but the accessories needn't be.

Maybe with black courts (DP & newlook have plenty for about 30 quid) and the rusty bag you liked? soft gold bag would be good too.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 22/06/2012 22:44

x posts nightsky

Oh, bugger. 5'8"! And there was me thinking being short was a PITA. At least I can cover me bloody awful knees.

thenightsky · 22/06/2012 23:29

I know - there is at least an upside to this God-awful summer... I can wear opaques to hide the knees.

HerRoyalNotness · 23/06/2012 00:02

I like the phase 8 dress, I'd accessorise with a buttery yellow, a bit more unexpected than red and not as boring as navy accessories.

hefner · 23/06/2012 07:26

How annoying nightsky, I have enough trouble finding things to cover my knees and I'm short.

That mint velvet dress is gorgeous but I've never managed to find a decent strapless bra, choice of bras is v limited in my size.

I like the idea of soft yellow. Should shoes and bag be similar colours or different. Maybe silver/grey shoes could work? Would be more versatile to wear again, although be honest if you think that would look wrong.

OP posts:
ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 23/06/2012 11:32

I'm not a fan of matching shoes and bag at all, but, if you are these would go well with the bag (always size up with Zara).

I don't think silver or grey would work. Nude? Cream?

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 23/06/2012 11:33

Oh, and there is an excellent (new?) strapless bra about for the norky, is mentioned on a thread in S&B that's running ATM about needing a black strapless bra.

Thumbwitch · 23/06/2012 11:33

I think the Phase8 dress is perfect for a wedding!
