Who is it aimed at? What age group? Strange section in M&S.

Complete the 2 steps below before adding to your basket

Step 1 Have you seen an optician recently?

Step 2 Buy a mirror

noddyholder · 23/06/2012 13:42

I always play 'spot the thing you would wear 'in there its great fun but mostly pointless Grin I think indigo is just as bad.Limited collection has some gems

noddyholder · 23/06/2012 13:48

possibility

OneHandFlapping · 23/06/2012 13:49

Maryz, I can see Nancy Dell Olio wearing that!

I was looking at their women' business suits recently. M&S always used to do a nice business suit - and had petite jackets and a choice of skirt lengths too, in nice wool-based fabrics.

Now they seem to have gone entirely over to washable suits, in polyester fabric, with nasty decorative stitching on the jackets. They look (and are) cheap. Having just spent £250 Shock Shock Shock on a lovely Hobbs suit (in the sale too), I wish that I could've got an M&S version for £150.

noddyholder · 23/06/2012 13:53

God yes I think Miss Nancy must be their muse. You imagine people wearing per una to jingle as they walk

I like it Blush

alemci · 23/06/2012 13:54

i used to buy per una and it was definitely more trendy. It is too fussy and frilly for me on the whole. the odd shrug or top is ok but they never have small sizes.

I like Indigo really nice.

alemci · 23/06/2012 13:56

'does my bum look big in this' springs to mind Mary

alemci · 23/06/2012 13:57

i meant the catsuit BTW

FoxPass · 23/06/2012 14:06

The model even looks like Nancy! Shock

I wish M&S would do a Q&A on mumsnet. Come and explain themselves for these crimes against fashion!

I always feel really guilty bashing M&S. I'm sitting here in an M&S denim skirt, opaques and undies (other clothes are also available), so my loyalty transcends my snarking.

I did get approached by M&S customer services to go to a testing panel day in London 'on the basis of my shopping patterns'. Shock That invitation might be rescinded after the Foxy Scientist Dress thread, though.

dexter73 · 23/06/2012 15:26

anniewoo - my mum is 73 with a love of all things gaudy!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/06/2012 19:06

Weeeeelll I bought a denim skirt from Indigo - sort of stonewashed denim, small pleat at the front just above knee length.

I'm 46 and I think it looks lush.

Eliza22 · 23/06/2012 19:57

Years ago, I used to love Per Una but then something really odd happened to it. It was like they got new designers in who said " how many paisley patterns can we throw at one garment, and the punters will buy it anyway?"

It's revolting, now.

anniewoo · 24/06/2012 13:10

Oohh Dexter she must be a really trendy 73 year old and happy too - i always think at least the colours in per una are bright , happy colours. Not sombre, dignified and er, classy Grin

The word that always springs to mind when I see Per Una colours is 'jazzy'. But not in an Ella Fitzgerald way. Sad

Aliceinthelookingglass · 24/06/2012 15:34

it was once marketed at the under 25s- Shock

The only people I know who buy it now are my mum's friends who are 70-80s- they like the cardis, longer skirts etc.

I once did buy some knitwear about 20 years ago.

Generally though, I find going into M&S terribly depressing- even the main flag ships stores. I buy undies there and that's it, although I have a fashion conscious friend who will pick up the odd nice bit of cashmere etc that is oftne only found in big branches like Marble Arch.

dexter73 · 24/06/2012 20:41

Hhahahahahah at my mum being trendy!!! Bright and happy - yes but trendy???
