I'm 45 have always had pretty clear skin until about a year ago. Now my skin is shocking. Every morning I wake up and I have red spots (almost like a rash) on my forehead and across my nose and cheeks and they are actually quite sore to touch and itchy. I have tried every skin cream known to man cheap and expensive, tried OCM everything. Any ideas what the hell is wrong with my face and can you help?

Could it be rosacea?
I don't know much about it..worth googling maybe

It could be rosacea.

Have you tried sudocrem? that's the only thing that works on my skin.

Hi Dollys. I was like this for a few months, my skin was awful, to the point where I didn't want to leave the house. I tried everything from creams etc. to changing my diet and nothing worked.

I eventually went to the GP and he told me I had acne (in my late 30's!). He prescribed antibiotics which I've been on for a month and my skin has totally cleared up.

Go see your doctor, just wish I'd done it earlier!

When i cam off the pill a few years ago, my skin became terrible - large spots all over my chin. it really got me down.

I tried Niapads - they are from usa but you can order them over amazon.com - they are brilliant and in about 3 days my skin was noticeably better - then cleared up completely after about week. I ordered quite a few packs and now only use them when i feel a spot coming on which is hardly ever. i do have some packs left if you are interested and want to pm me Smile

Thanks all for your replies, I'm going to try sudocrem tonight and google rosacea and niapads! It's making me so self conscious. Sad

Let me go back to basics for a min & ask if it could be a reaction to something you're using? Sounds like ultra sensitive skin to me.

I would suggest calming the skin down & my best advice is to go to Lush & explain the problem to them. Anytime my skin misbehaves I get some Lush stuff & it sorts it out with no messing. I use a moisturiser called Celestial as its the gentlest I know but still great & they have a pink squidgy cleanser made with calamine, I think its called Fresh Farmacy & its fab, so cooling. Seriously try it.

Have you tried Clinique's redness relief range? I've been using the moisturiser for a few months now and it's really helped.

Just to thank the person who suggested sudocrem! Made a HUGE difference already so thank you!

Yay! That was me! I have found it so useful in curing my spots, it's great stuff.

WRT to camouflaging the redness, Bare Minerals Bisque is fanatastic!
