Tis the season for wedding guest advice, please?

In about a month I'm going to a friend's wedding - it'll be a fairly relaxed affair, bunting and jam jars of Thanks - that kind of thing, in a village barn.
I've finally found a dress I'm happy with Shock (not too formal yet still wedding appropriate) but was wondering what on earth to wear with it.
Here's the dress: www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=34070&storeId=13064&productId=2733117&langId=-1&sort_field=Newness&categoryId=337157&parent_categoryId=&pageSize=20

I think I probably need a cardi/shawl/stole something-or-other (it's supposedly summer, but I don't trust England to give us the weather we deserve in July!), necklace, shoes and a bag. The dress is a lovely print (finally a floral I can pull off without looking like a granny! Blush ), but I'm struggling to pick out a colour from the dress to 'accessorise'.

Background info: I'm 23, size 8, blonde shoulderlength hair, occassional (but inexperienced) heel wearer...

Any advice please, lovely mumsnetters?

Have you already bought the dress? Because it says 'out of stock' on the link you sent?

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 18/06/2012 23:33

there looks to be a deep coral (or orange? / red?), a shell pink and a cream in there, I'd go with those. the deep colour for shoes, shell pink bag and a plain cream pashmina.

very simple bag
maybe too fussy or possibly perfect depends on the shoes

Barn = outdoor or converted? Would definitely go with wedges if the latter - will have a look if you can let me know what colour it is...

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 18/06/2012 23:36

anything like the deep orange-ish colour?

AndWhenYouGetThere · 19/06/2012 12:07

Thank you for these - I really like both the bags. Didn't realise you were "allowed" to do accessories with different colours - Shock

The orange colour is a lot more peach/coral ish I think - this kind of thing. hexday.com/color/FF6666

Matching bag and shoes is to be avoided!! Old fashined thus can look frumpy thus aging.

these shoes any good?, same shoe, differnt pic. looks totally different shade

AndWhenYouGetThere · 19/06/2012 12:13

Yep - Ceeveebee - already bought the dress a few weeks ago (from a shop, not the site). Had a few fruitless accessories shopping trips since and realised I need help!

I love the shell pink new look bag, what a bargain! And the DP coral shoes are lovely too

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 19/06/2012 12:21

[[http://www.newlook.com/shop/shoe-gallery/shoes/head-over-heels-coral-plaited-sandals_246405683 low wedge sandals

high sandal

the colour doesn't need to be exactly the same shade as the one your picking out in the dress, as long as it's pretty similar it'll be fine. The detail is so small...

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 19/06/2012 12:21

sorry - low wedge sandals

AndWhenYouGetThere · 19/06/2012 12:34

Yep, the pink new look bag is lovely, Ceeveebee (I like the Accessorise one lots too!)

The barn is an outdoor (cobbled floor) one - so does that mean I should probably stick with wedges. I really love the plaited low wedge ones (could get away with them with jeans for normal daytime, too, if we ever get a summer!) But I really like the DP coral courts too.

Stilleto heel + cobbles = hell x ruined shoes

AndWhenYouGetThere · 19/06/2012 12:43

That was my thoughts... as well as ruined shoes, I'd probably ruin my tights, the buffet, and the cake as I went flying into it.

So, wedges it is then...

www.newlook.com/shop/shoe-gallery/shoes/knotted-cork-wedge-shoes_244221983 Are these too casual for a wedding?

Can't find them on Faith's own site - but I quite like these too...

THe sandles you liked are good, great to able to get proper use out of em too. chunkier heeled courts would work.

no problems with these on cobbles but maybe too clumpy with the dress
maybe?

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 19/06/2012 12:50

x posts

faith ones are fab the others too informal

AndWhenYouGetThere · 25/06/2012 19:00

Thank you for your brilliant advice - I bought the Faith coral shoes (which have a shell pink edging detail!) and the Accessorize simple bag.

I also managed to get a coral centered, shell pink petaled hair flower which works brilliantly to tie it all together.

Mumsnetters are fab! Thank you!
