Talk to me about hiring dresses ...

I've seen a few mentions in the press about dress hire agencies - for example, girl meets dress, and wish want wear.

I've got a couple of weddings this year and fancy giving them a try. Has anyone tried them? Any hints / tips for someone desperate for a pretty dress she couldn't normally afford?!

I used one in Newbury many years ago. The dress was fab and not overly expensive. I had to leave a £100 deposit which was returned after the dress was returned and checked over.

Or you could try a nearly new store. They quite often have lovely things at great prices in "as new" condition. They are extremely choosy about what they take in and I've had some lovely stuff from the one in Ringwood.

Oh I use Girl Meet Dress all the time. They are brilliant - really helpful and full of info if you need to ask them anything. They've got loads of new stuff in over the last couple of months - divine. Just one thing, if you do it, order what you want as soon as poss for your event, there's been a couple of occasions where I've set my heart on something and it's already booked out.

'Cinderella Me' for a pair of Loubs/Jimmy Choos as well - I could go on forever .... !

Ooh vonherr I'm all excited now!

I've seen gorgeous things on both websites. The only problem is choosing which one ...

I have an evening wedding in November and I definitely want to hire for that, but Girl Meets Dress only seemed to be taking bookings up to the end of September.

Will they get more / different stock in for winter do you think?

I'm not sure why that would be? Maybe they sell dresses towards the end of season, or something? I would wait til about two months or so before the wedding. Unless you have seen something perfect, in which case, email them? I'm sure they won't say no to you. If I was you though, I would want the choice of the full winter range, I bet there will be some gorgeous dresses for that time of year. xx

Yes, that's what I was thinking. I LOVE winter clothes!
