What can I do with stinky Birkenstocks?

Just that really. I have 3 pairs and they have all gone smelly . Do I have to replace or is there a way to clean them?

Did I imagine this tip?? Put them into the freezer!

Smelly footbed?

Sprinkle bicarb of soda in them, leave overnight and bang it off in the morning.

I've put a pair through the washing machine before. Seemed to do the trick

I popped them in a lingerie bag and used the handwash programme. They were a bit stiff for a few days once they'd dried out, but it was a vast improvement to having v smelly shoes

I have scrubbed the inside of mine with a nail brush and vanish. Seemed to help for a while.
