Dying hair roots at home

I currently dye my hair with a home dye kit - a mid brown colour. However, the colour builds up over time, and it's now too dark. Can you buy root-only dye kits? I've looked in a big Tesco, but couldn't see anything - could you use a normal hair dye kit and just put it on the roots? [bit wasteful - but still cheaper than the salon!] Also, is it hard to really match your natural shade?

Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance! Smile

i use clairol root touch - you can use as much as you want of the two tubes so lasts me a good few 'dyes'. it's often on offer in sains or tescos. i have dark brown hair and use the dark brown, colour not too dark, barely noticeable as it grows out.

Think there's something called roots and easy, got mine in boots when mine started showing through, dead easy and really effective. It comes with a comb thingy that you apply dye with. Friends couldn't see my roots afterwards :) Think it cost me about a fiver and it matches with other brands of hair dye. Hope that helps, Lou

Thanks both for your replies Smile

Surrey - that sounds good - I like the idea of having a tube and being able to just use a little bit, as really i'll just want to wipe out the grey in the roots, and that sounds like a good value way of tackling the roots.

Lousylo66 - I wonder if Roots and Easy is anything to do with Nice and Easy - that's the brand I currently use, and i'm happy with it [apart from the colour build up which I suppose is unavoidable with hair dying!] so i'd be happy about using the same sort of product. Good to hear it blends in well colourwise too.

Thanks - just happy to hear the product I want is on the market - will check out a big Boots and have a look!
