I've solved my eternal summer dress quest.....& it's half price!

So, I look like a tranny/barmaid in most summer dresses as I have boobs. Its such a fine line for me from looking OK in a dress to an utter fleshy mess.

I've bought and sent back 5 dresses in the last 2 weeks as they were too short, too flimsy, sleeveless, too floral, too meh!

Finally I think i've solved it. So, to cover my curvaceous 14-16, big boobed (e cup), 5'9, this seems to tick all but one box....

Not in a stupid colour/ design - tick
Not too short - tick, to the knee
Not sleeveless - tick, flattering cap sleeves
Not high necked - tick, mock wrap v neckline
Not hooker cleavage - tick, moderate coverage, they're not on display, but out enough to create a good shape..
Not polyester - not ticked, life ain't perfect, it hangs well though..
No frills, flowers to make me look like a barmaid - tick, plain
Not clingy - tick, empire line, hides tummy, ver ver flattering

Fits like a dream.. I feel OK it it rather than a tranny/ barmaid/ boobs out on the pull. It suits both flats or wedges... I can dress up for evening with gold hoops/cuff or down for the day with flats and a denim jacket...

here

I do wish it was cotton, but the polyester does give it a good 'hang' Shock so to speak which is very flattering.

it's also HALF PRICE, so thought i'd share...... Grin

Ooh madammecholet you've made my day. Got DS1's graduation soon and was despairing of finding a comfy dress that didn't show too much boobage/flabby upper arms...I think you've cracked it.

Thanks for sharing!

madammecholet · 14/06/2012 17:15

It is really comfy ilovefishfingers as its stretchy, so no pulling anywhere. It would look fab with nude heels and a nude clutch, or snake print...

The pink was nice too, but more sugary pink than in this picture for sure... more coral pink..

not relevant but I put a Madame Cholet toy on ebay today :)

GrimmaTheNome · 14/06/2012 17:18

I'd love something like that in a petite length.

madammecholet · 14/06/2012 17:24

I LOVED the wombles lePinotGrin

Looks gorgeous - I'v put my order in - got it for £36 as I paid with House of Fraser card. Bargain!!

CointreauVersial · 14/06/2012 23:36

Lovely. I have a Monsoon dress in an almost identical shape (although it has a print - not too busy, though).

Very flattering shape, takes pounds off you, and no inappropriate cleavage at the office.

madammecholet · 15/06/2012 07:34

I got Navy, which colour did u get Gingefringe?

How long is it? I need a dress to cover my knees

HollyBollyBooBoo · 15/06/2012 08:08

Gorgeous dress. I had no idea Linea went up to a size 18 (and beyond). I don't need any clothes but it's nice to know about another retailer that goes up to that size if I need it.

LePinot · 15/06/2012 08:18

OH GOOD GOD RABID

MissFoodie · 15/06/2012 09:22

looks lovely! (will try not to buy)

Poppolino · 15/06/2012 10:07

I might order one, it's lovely. Did you find it true to size? I am a 10-12, would you recommend going bigger or smaller?

Btw, thank you for sharing; it really does tick all the boxes for me too Smile

madammecholet · 15/06/2012 12:38

Morning all!

rabid it comes to the knee on me but i'm 5'9... I used the Buy and Collect system, so you can order it for free postage and go and try it on on store. Order by 5pm and its there the next day by 12..

Polppolino it is true to size, but i'd go for a 10 as it's stretchy not fixed..

I do love empire line as its so flattering for me, bust/hips etc.. and as i'm tall I am always disappointed with dresses ending near my knicker line!

Lovely dress Madammecholet but it has cap sleeves, which are the work of the devil -- possibly the most unflattering sleeve length there is.

madammecholet · 15/06/2012 13:42

Yes, niminypiminy I would have preferred 3/4 length, but tbh as everything is bleedin' sleeveless this season, I took this as a small compromise!

niminypiminy · 15/06/2012 22:24

I know, I know. It's that sick-at-heart feeling you get when you trawl through goodness knows how many dresses and none, not one, makes you feel happy at the prospect of putting it on. I mean, how hard can it be?

HouseOfCheese · 16/06/2012 09:04

Yes, it's all sleeveless polyester shit (BO inducing), suitable only for wearing with 80s work jackets, or mother of the bride jackets.

More natural, plain, fabrics with sleeves please.

Yes indeed, how hard can it be - presumably times are hard for clothing manufacturers, why don't they work harder to get it right?

HouseOfCheese · 16/06/2012 09:23

btw dress IS nice OP, lovely shape!

SpeckleDust · 16/06/2012 09:27

Just ordered one of each colour Smile.

I have the same problems with never finding dresses that fit. Additional issue for me is having short body (along with big norks) so fitted unstretchy dresses look pulled in all the wrong places.

High hopes for this one.

HouseOfCheese · 16/06/2012 09:34

It would be good too if more dresses came with matching cotton (or at least viscose) t-shirty underlayers, it would make them more wearable. T-shirt underlayer to be elbow length in summer, wrist length in winter.

The likes of White Stuff and Fat Face are doing this, but the top layers are often very patterned, wide necked and flouncey which is okay if you like that sort of thing but I'd like something a bit plainer and more classic looking. Ta.

johnnycomelurky · 16/06/2012 09:43

SpeckleDust I'm the same! Short body can be so hard to work with, belted dresses usually look stupid on me. Empire waists are great though.

johnnycomelurky · 16/06/2012 09:50

I got this Vila dress in blue and it is very flattering and very bargainous
