What will I wear with it for an outdoor formal event? Shoes and coat, any ideas?

are these shoes too meh with it?

Definitely don't like the navy shoes with it - you'd be better with tan, cream or gold.

Yes, to the trench coat idea! Navy shoes etc would be fine as long as there's a pop of colour - eg orange, hot pink - somewhere to give the outfit some lift. More Middleton-esque to wear it with nude court shoes (up to you whether that is a good or bad look)

I actually have the Middleton nude shoes but I'm scared of wearing them in case they get ruined on the grass!!!

I think coral works very well with navy.

Yeah, a trench coat and coral is right on the money. Surely you want wedges (or at least a chunky heal) for grass?

I would, yeah. Bertie say yellow . They're too dark to be any sort of yellow I've ever seen...

If you decide to go with orange........I've just been to a wedding and wore black&cream dress,black court shoes and bright orange bag. Worked really well. Bag was a rectangular patent clutch from accessorise ~£24. It's not on the website but should still be in the shops. L'oreal had the exact same shade in nail polish too
