evening dress and awful weather

I am going to a very posh dinner this evening. It is pouring with rain and I will be travelling by tube.

Is it generally considered acceptable to wear my boots and raincoat, carry my evening shoes and bag, then put boots and raincoat in the cloakroom? I can't think of any other way of doing it. I will probably arrive looking like a drowned rat anyway..........

I am sure I won't be the only person on public transport - just wondering how people usually manage. (Don't get out much Sad)

Do what you need to do to get to the event looking okay. Who cares if that means wellies on the tube.

I think it would be a good idea to wear coat/boots and then change shoes when you get there. I have done this before at a Christmas dinner last year when it snowed very heavily. Didn't want to risk breaking my neck in the snow in heels!

Yes - I did this last week, trainers on until arrived at the do.

I made sure I arrived 10 mins so there wasn't a crowd of people around.

And from what I understand there are v strange sights on the Tube so no one will bat an eyelid.

Have a lovely time :)

Grin Yes - I agree about the strange sights on the tube. I was a bit more concerned about arriving at the event in boots and raincoat - however, I am sure other people must be considering doing the same thing. I guess I would look more peculiar squelching into the place in soggy strappy heels and a wet dress!

Sadly - most of the other people will be posh, and I am not. I have already gone through all the angst of trying to work out what to wear anyway. Sigh.

I wish it would stop raining.
