I am a woman of a certain age (late 40s) who can no longer deny I am fat flustered and frumpy. I feel old age has caught up with me over the past few years and then some.

I have now resolved to change my eating habits and have lost a few pounds, but have some considerable way to go. I know that I need to feel better about how I look now, in order to keep motivated for the long haul.

I cant justify buying new clothes as they (hopefully!) will be too big in a few months. I have had my hair cut and painted my toes, but am a bit clueless when it comes to grooming and accessorising.

I would really appreciate some confidence boosting style and beauty suggestions to help in my quest.

Thank you.

I'm up for the challenge Lilo.

I've pumped up my tyres but now it looks as if it will rain (honest!)

I've promised myself no snacking today and am going to buy stuff for a salad box to take to work tomorrow instead of buying a sandwich.

cycling in the rain is quite nice you know... cook and refreshing! Well, exercise and food-wise I have been quite good today... but did have several glasses of wine with a friend for her birthday earlier. Booze and associated nibbles definitely my downfall. Good on you for buying stuff to take to work for lunch, too many hidden calories in canteen food I think. Will endeavour to make my own lunches too - it means I don't have to go into the canteen and be seduced by pastry/chips/fried stuff etc

I know this has turned into a weight loss thread, but just wanted to say I lost 4 lbs this week (smug) and whilst I know this is most likely to be water it has given me a bit of a boost.

How are you going Lilo?

Thanks for all the tips. I have been practising tying scarves, but dont think I have cracked it yet.

When I weighed myself a few days ago, I'd lost a couple of pounds, will weigh again in the morning.

I've just been watching "secret eaters" on 4oD, you might like to take a look - it has made me think about how much I really eat/drink.

Off out tonight for a friend's birthday so will no doubt undo the good work so far :-(
