Does anyone not wear anti perspirant and just a deodrant?

Its a lazy day today for me so in order to make some space I am using up some posh deodrant and just wondered does anyone not use anti perpirant and uses deodrant istead and the pros and cons

I just use a deoderant. When I was younger I never found an anti perspirant that actually worked, and now I am older I realise that the human body is meant to sweat, and that anti perspirants can have some pretty nasty ingredients.

I sometimes don't use deoderant either.

I don't smell.

Pinkflipflop · 09/06/2012 16:12

I wash every day and never wear either.

Just asked dh and I don't smell!!

exexe · 09/06/2012 16:17

I generally only use deoderant (Bionsen) except for on really hot working days because I have to commute by tube and I get really hot and sweaty then.
I'm paranoid about lifting my arm up to hold onto a bar or something and reeking of B.O.
I shower every day too.

Puffykins · 09/06/2012 16:29

I don't use either. And I don't smell. I think some people need to use it, and others don't.

EllenParsons · 09/06/2012 18:04

I use normal antiperspirant deodorants e.g. dove spray. Not actually sure what "just" a deodorant is supposed to do if not antiperspirant so never considered them.

MissFoodie · 09/06/2012 18:07

i use deodorant, anti perspirants contain aluminium chloride, not v good for you

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 09/06/2012 18:07

I use either Bionsen or Tisserand, the latter is also organic, don't like the idea of all the chemicals in anti-perspirant, having said that I don't sweat a huge amount!

FairToMiddlin · 09/06/2012 18:15

I don't use either as they tend to cause spots in my armpits.

I just have a good wash every day (I'm not suggesting you don't Grin).

I also sweat very, very little.

MissFoodie · 09/06/2012 18:17

i sweat a bit, but would rather a bit of wetness than use nasty antiperspirant, just a case of finding a deodorant that works for you, the bionsen and tisserand didn't do anything for me, but there are plenty out there to try

Itsgottabebags · 09/06/2012 20:04

Yes I do wash Grin just wondering really. The posh deodrant is chanel mademoiselle and I seem to be able to smell it quite strongly even now and there's no hint of BO

I only use Mitchum. It is an antippersperant. Did you know that you can only buy deodorant in Italy? My friend used to stock up here when she was home. Not sure if it is still the case but you couldn't buy antiperspirant there anywhere!

petra14 · 10/06/2012 09:32

Anti perspirant irritates my skin and cause nasty rushes, especially stronger anti perspirants like Driclor and similar. I use natural crystal deodorants but they don't help with sweating so I just use Nonchalante underarm pads to prevent sweat patches.

KDK12 · 10/06/2012 09:56

I'm currently using Jason unscented deodorant, haven't used an antiperspirant for yonks. In winter I generally don't use anything.
Sometimes in summer I have a quick freshen up during the day and re-apply. I sweat a lot when it's really hot (I live at the top of a steep hill!) but am never smelly :)

MWB22 · 10/06/2012 10:01

I've just discovered Pitrock deodorant. Love the stuff. No BO, no perfume, no nasty chemicals.

tajmout · 10/06/2012 16:55

Just god wash with Molton Brown and since recently, underarm pads. Sorted.

MsWeatherwax · 10/06/2012 17:35

Don't use either, but always wash and wear clean clothes each day. I found anti-perspirant made no real difference and smelt nasty.

danne · 10/06/2012 23:24

No anti perspirant, just mild deodorant

Hopefully · 11/06/2012 07:02

I use Pitrok, it is fabulous. There was a period of a week or two when I smelt a bit while my body adjusted, I guess, but now I never get smelly, even after chasing round after the DCs all day.

dundeemarmalade · 11/06/2012 18:50

I stopped using normal underarm years ago . Can't remember why now. Iirc it took about a week of sweating like a racehorse then it settled down and I think I swear less than when I used "proper" underarm. I now use clarins eau dynamisante or ressourceante spray deodorant. also liked weleda but not as effective.

dundeemarmalade · 11/06/2012 18:51

And I certainly sweat less too.

unna · 11/06/2012 19:41

Never felt comfortable with too much chemicals in antiperspirants. My sweat didn't smell till a year or so ago but now it does so I've started using Salt of the Earth natural deodorant just to cover the smell and I'm using Nonchalante underarm pads so that sweat doesn't show on my clothes.

tajmout · 12/06/2012 10:55

unna same problem with sweat smell here. It become more intense in the 3-4 days prior to the period and usually resolve a few days after.
