Does anyone know why having a pedicure is so damn painful?

Compared to a manicure? I'm not talking the removal of dead skin but the actual cutting of the talons? I'm in bloody agony.

It shouldn't be painful. I've only ever had my toe nails filed during pedicures, as I do at home too. Not cut or clipped.

ENormaSnob · 09/06/2012 16:11

I have never found them painful at all tbh.

Do you maintain at home?

No I go about every fix weeks the minute she goes to my big toenails it kills me. I hope they aren't infected or something.

I would go to a proper qualified chiropodist and get him/her to look at your toenails. If they are ingrowing they'll know exactly how to cut them.

I'm training to be a therapist and I've never known anyone to say a pedicure hurt unless the therapist is cutting the nails wrong, it can be tricky and there are certain techniques to it.

Also if you have either infected or ingrown toe nails the therapist should make you aware of this or at least tell you to seek medical advice as the problem could end up worse.

Shouldn't hurt or feel uncomfortable Smile

I find the foot filing excruciating, like a chinese burn

Not pleasant at all

ggirl · 11/06/2012 22:22

no i don't find it painful..you're all weirdy Grin

i do however find these bloody head massages the hairdresser does excrutiating

cybbo · 11/06/2012 22:23

I like a head massage but hate getting it washed because they SCRUB and SCRUB with all their might on the very top of my head and it fuckinghurts

joanofarchitrave · 11/06/2012 22:23

I'd go to a chiropodist.

I'd also stop having pedicures tbh.

TheNightWatch · 11/06/2012 22:26

Is it anything to do with that electric file they use on the surface of the nail. Do all therapists do them?

daimbardiva · 11/06/2012 23:18

Definitely should not be painful. Does it hurt when you cut your nails yourself? I think getting a chiropodist to have a look is a good idea

TheNightWatch · 12/06/2012 20:52

Christ, Liz Jones talks about toe nails getting thicker during the menopause today!
