First time waxing of the lady garden question....

Virgil · 08/06/2012 20:19

I am seriously hairy. My lady garden is more of a rainforest and is gradually making its way down my legs which is not DHs favourite look. I hate shaving it since I get a really bad shaving rash and so I'm thinking of having it waxed but have never been waxed before. I hear from the young things at work that it's the done thing to take it all off but this is a bit scary. Is that the norm? Is a brazilian passe now? And logistics wise I'm aware from MN that they give you paper pants but how do they get the the underneath bits. Or don't they? I'm a bit worried about this Blush. Can anyone enlighten me before I turn up and embarrass myself?

Immaculate is available from Poundland, IPL fixed my similar problem and is available from Groupon. Permanent and I highly recommend it.

If you have never been waxed before I suggest not starting off with a brazilian.

Go to a salon recommended by friends. You want hot wax not strips as it is quicker and less painful.

Take a couple of ibuprofen before you go.

It will hurt but remember to breathe. I try to concentrate on breathing as it helps me relax.

Also ask your therapist if there is anyway you can help. By pulling your skin taut.

After you get home apply tea tree cream to the waxed area, avoid hot baths or showers for 24 hrs. Then after 48hrs use some exfoliating gloves over the waxed bit (gently) Do this every few days as it will help stop ingrowing hairs.

You want to have someone pour hot wax over your genitals and then rip out the hair by the roots?

You mad fool Grin

MardyBra · 08/06/2012 20:58

What Hecate said. Just trim.

cybbo · 08/06/2012 21:01

Your DH should feel honoured he gets to see it at all

milkysmum · 08/06/2012 21:01

Although many get brazailians not everyone I'm sure. Many salons don't even offer this service as can be seen as 'specialised' so to speak. Whenever i go they ask me to pull my knickers at the side to how far in i want them to wax iykwim. Then if I want any off the top and if so hitch knickers down appropriatley. Doesn't hurt that much to be honest but gess everyone is different.

OMG that was the most painful thing I have ever experienced - and I've had two DCs!!

Go somewhere recommended. Trim before you go.

Hot wax only.

It doesn't hurt. No pants, you strip below waste.

You will be a convert, no going back to hairiness once you start!

Queenofcake · 09/06/2012 17:06

Brazillian is a landing strip

Hollywood is a bald fanjo

You could ask for a bikini wax but say you want a little bit more than a std bikini wax but not as much as a Brazillian.

Trim before you go or you will have to lie there whilst the therapist trims your bush for you.

I have Brazillians and dont remove my pants. I wear old ones (but not too tatty - as I dont want the therapist thinking I am a total minger). Therapist asks me to pull my pants to one side whilst she waxes inside the knicker line.

Its upto you if you have the total undercarriage done as well. Be aware that if you do for this option then there may be some delving down below between fanjo and bum!!

Its not that bad pain wise for me. I find the shins the most painful place. Gimme a Brazillian anyday over the bottom of my shins.

Oh and dont be shy - tell the therapist its your first time and they will talk you through it and discuss what you want and tell you how to sit/lie/position yourself. And - despite being very close to your Fanjo - they will just be concerned about whether they have all the hairs out rather than studying your bits.

Enragia · 09/06/2012 17:56

It doesn't. Bloody hurt. Wusses

AgathaFusty · 09/06/2012 18:13

I cannot believe that women willingly put themselves through this. What is wrong with clippers, in private at home?

Enragia · 09/06/2012 19:13

I thought same. But feels lovely afterwards.

Pinkflipflop · 09/06/2012 19:15

Philips lumea is my answer to this; I have used it twice on bikini line and am practically hair free.

MrsAlexanderSkarsgard · 09/06/2012 19:56

I had my first bikini wax this week at the grand old age of 37 and by god does it fucking hurt BUT looks & feels lovely and I am sad to say I quite like it and so does DH, so worth the agony and the sshing by the poor girl doing the ripping!!

monkeysmama · 09/06/2012 20:51

Anyone have them while pg? Does it hurt more? I used to have a bikini line wax every month but haven't for a year. I'm 8mo pg and can't use Immac atm as it's making my skin sore (and I can't see properly) I am considering having one next week while I'm getting my eyebrows and legs done.

Nobhead · 09/06/2012 21:04

It is a momentary pain but worth it to avoid nasty shaving rash. It's more a suck your breath in sharply pain. I too would recommend trimming the length of the hairs before you go seeme to hurt more the longer they are.

milkysmum · 09/06/2012 22:47

Monkeys- I had them when pregnant and it was fine- day before I went into labour in fact- couldn't have seen to do anything else!
